Argensa

The city of silver.

It’s night, wherever they are. Titan can hear the faint howl of wind. He seems to be in some sort of tall building, on an upper floor. He stands to get a better look, legs still wobbly from booting up. The window overlooks a city that sprawls in all directions, perfectly gridded streets surrounding hundreds upon hundreds of odd and beautiful buildings: squat, huge, and every size in between, some seeming almost mathematically impossible. Massive windmills jut out of the snow and off of rooftops. There are more than a few large swathes of flat, snow-covered land stuck between the buildings, most with little shop stalls and push carts on the ice. He can see techs, so many techs, in these odd parks, some with telescopes, some just sitting on benches with their screens to the sky. He looks up to see what they’re all staring at, and is amazed by the sheer number of stars. He doesn’t think he’s ever seen this many in one place. Apollo laughs, patting him on the back.   “Really takes your breath away, doesn’t it?” Another chuckle. “Just wait until you see the auroras.” <...Where are we, exactly?> “Say hello to the South Pole,” Apollo says proudly, gesturing out of the window. “The undisputed heart of the tech world.”

Demographics

Humans may visit, but due in part to the climate, all permanent residents of Argensa are techs.

Defences

The unforgiving arctic climate is in itself a defense, let alone the fact that higher government in Argensa is run almost solely by experienced secsyses.

Industry & Trade

Techs make small amounts of basically everything mechanical: clocks, gadgets, technology, and most notably, scientific and medical equipment. Tech-made goods are often more expensive due to their small numbers, but are extremely reliable and precise. Techs are noted architects, and if the need for a stunning and baffling building is called for, a tech is often the first to be asked.

Infrastructure

Argensa is full of factories and smaller workshops, as tech-made goods, particularly gadgetry, have a reputation for lasting for decades without problem. The massive public transport system, thousands of miles across on all sides, is a particular point of pride.

Guilds and Factions

The Graveyard Orbit, essentially aerospace Freemasons, have a long and storied history of activism, using their respected positions among human society to settle problems and disputes. The Orbit has been trying to end the manufacture and implementation of overrides for years, with little success. They also campaigned for the release of Apep's remains back to Argensa, but were foiled. Of course, the Orbit also continues to work with upsea organizations like ISSED to continue to shape the future of exploration.

Architecture

Argensa is, like its residents, a baffling smorgasbord of all possible styles of architecture, from gothic cathedrals and opera houses to hyper-modernist abstraction, a breathtaking fever dream of stone, glass, metal, and color.

Geography

Mostly built on flat, icy land.

Natural Resources

Argensa generates massive amounts of purely wind-based power, mostly used to keep its inhabitants thriving.
