Nae
Goddess of Preservation
Pronunciation - /NAY/
Nae, the Protector, is the Prime God of Preservation. In contrast to the other two concepts, Nae has the most information recorded about her, although this information is nothing in comparison to information accessible of the Greater Gods. She is most commonly represented by a feminine marble white body with no discernable face, hugged by large wings of some variety. Almost all religious iconography of her depicts her cradling the Argent with said wings, shielding the planet from the outside and perfectly whole. With the shells split into two upon creation, only a few depictions have been found of this version, either with tears dripping down her cheek or with shattered, broken wings. The least found, but still existing illustrations of Nae embodies her as a large, spectral dragon with similar postures and variations of the Argent.
The Protector has been seen said to be behave similarly to a modest child. To every creation made by Oum, Nae stagnates and slows the passage of time it takes to its end. Speculations on her personality have been the most debated out of the three. As the middle of the two concepts, if her reason for stagnation is the admiration of Oum's creations, then it is believed her prevalent characteristics are of curiosity and unrelenting gratitude. Contrastly, if it's the innate repulsion of the concept of everything must come to an end, she is then deducted to be more stubborn and close-minded in character. All creations must end and yet something must always exist. This leaves the Protector constantly between the forces of Oum and Vaz on the cosmic scale.
There was a point in time where the creations wandering the Argent have claimed to have seen the Protector. Through visions, dreams, and other unexplainable means, it is undeniable with all the remaining imagery discovered across both shells her presence was once stronger on the Argent. There are few individuals of recent date who claim to see such revelations, but these cases have been dismissed as just rumors.
"Your balance over the bowl is critical to halting the forces of the outside. Rest assured she will return soon to watch you, but for now you must grow strong and balance the tides, or else you will be unable to stop them. There will be a day where every waking moment, you will not be able to have a singular lasp of focus, but you will be the strongest of Oum's creations. Work hard, and she will be most pleased to see what you've protected."
