The city of Drapes is the center of culture in trade in the desert region across the river wellward of the Eminent Territories. Organized by Tabaxi, the city has stood for decades among the hard-packed sands, expanding and moving across it as tents are put up, moved, replaced, and taken down. It has no borders, and virtually no permanent structures. The further toward the center of the shifting mass of canvas and people that one journeys, the larger and more intricate the tents become; some boasting several stories, wooden balconies, or other amenities usually only seen in inns, castles, and other stable constructions. Tabaxi have allowed their Chaotic nature to roam free here, and there is virtually no regulation on what is bought and sold on the streets of the City so long as no one gets hurt or sold into slavery.
While the interior of the city remains somewhat stable at least, only ever rarely losing a tent in a collapse, gods forbid, a fire, the outer areas are much more fluid, and beings have been known to simply set up a tent on a patch of open ground for anywhere from a day to a month to run a business, settle down, or simply sleep for a few nights before going back out into the desert.
Water is not as rare in the City of Drapes as it is in other areas of the desert thanks to both the shade of the tents and the premium location chosen for the site of the largest tests, which often sit feet away from oasis which are tended by both druids and clerics to ensure they remain clean and attractive to customers of all stripes.
Due to the cultural influence of the City of Drapes, even surrounding individual "buildings" or homesteads take their inspiration from the great shawled streets. Beings living throughout the desert will oftten make their homes in semi-permanent fabric-based homes, as the materials to build such structures are readily available in the region in order to support the flourishing of the great City of Drapes.
