Collected Letters of Satyan Windblown, Guardian; Vol. 1

Satyan's letters transport me in a way no ship of air or sea could ever do. Through him, I know the world as it is, not as I remember it.

Purpose

6,855 years ago, when the first Guardians became, no one knew what to expect. Not the royal children, not the volunteers, not even the dragons. They only knew that there were no alternatives. However, the consequences they discovered when just one transfer went a little wrong served to reinforce why the deep magics had been too dangerous for the arrogant peoples who had saught to control them in the First Age, long before Tige the Uniter.

In the first year after The Conflagration, through much trial and error, and with great sacrifice, the Guardians became. With this new condition of Guardianship arose unforseen consequences viewed by guardians as a double-edged sword. They were left to deal with these consequences and the seemingly impossible challenges they presented, to develop entirely new ways of coping with unheard-of limitations as well as learning how to deal with compelling new passions and skills.

In the generations upon generations since the first volunteer Guardians, a great deal of new information has been discovered that has left the Guardians feeling much the same way other people do, as though the nature of their existence is both a blessing and a curse.

For Satyan Windblown, the relentless drive of his adventurous curiousity left him with the passionate drive to seek knowledge and experience in every corner of Argentii. His desire to store his accumulated knowledge and the memories of his travels meant he would need to develop a strong habit of journaling. Instead, to help both himself and his castle-bound sister Shiv Moonsong, he developed a strong habit of writing descriptive, highly detailed letters to her.

This first volume of collected letters is dedicated to Satyan's earliest discoveries about and reflections upon being a Guardian, and how those discoveries led him onto the path he continues traveling, to this day.
