Smouge
Smouge, or Shade, is a group of several islands within the diaspora that form the Continent of Argentii. Narrows strips of basalt that thrust up out of the sea, both wind and water rip through the channels between them. Coupled with the submerged hunks of basalt that hide the rest of the Dragon's Nest Mountains, sea navigation is next to impossible with the storms that rip through the canyons with a vengeful fury. This extreme topography means that most people on the island rarely see the sun except near midday during the height of the summer months. It has also lead to a culture that values both form and function. It is also the home of the continent's premiere technical college which out especially excellent engineers, like those that built the storm-defying tube-bridges that span the narrow gaps between Smouge's largest islands and link the walls of the steepest canyons across the diaspora.
