Banishment and Banter
-==New Scene: In the break of battle during the banishment of the Hydra==-
Acid and blood cover the ground as the party breathes for what feels like the first time. Alexa's view is slightly waivered through the invisible shields Paulo provides, something that only her observant eye could catch. She stated at the two dragonborns that have landed on the ground not far away, two seemingly impossible people to exist. Dragonborns displaced in time. She wants to investigate further, but her attention instead is drawn to her injured commrades. Syn, Solus, and Ozy seem almost slowed by the unexpected shock of accidental friendly fire. She runs to their side, and offers a shoulder to lean on while they figure out a plan during the respite. "I'm so sorry, I don't know if it was the right thing to do but-" she looks to a very injured Syn "-I got scared that I would lose you. " She glances to Solus "Both of you."
A lightning bolt connects from the Hydra to the curling storm over head. In that very moment, energy twists and curls and crawls outwards, hitting anyone in the vicinity. Flashes of blue quickly light across the faces of the breakers before a crippling jolt of pain runs through their very bodies sending them curling over in pain. Syn catches her fall by the handle of her great club, wraeth. Leaning heavily into it for support as she holds it upright in the dirt.
“Shit.”
She mumbles between heavy breaths, till Alexa appears by her side and the Hydra banished. Syn’s free arm reaches up and grabs the shoulder of her friend. “Don’t apologize.” Another breath of air between words. “I refuse to die here anyway. Not fucking happening.” The moment of pause leaves the rage she started the fight with dispersing. A wave of exhaustion hits like a brick wall and she leans even more onto the shoulder of her friend. “But we need a plan…” Red eyes shift over to the new faces on the battlefield. “Them. You know them? Allies?”
Alexa sees her friends body growing limper with exhaustion. "We need to get away from the Hydra, I know you don't like to run, but I can't see a way past this. And I know at least one of them, as should you. It looks like Ty Targarius and... Wyllis? But that doesn't make sense. We saw Ty die, and Wyllis has been reported dead or missing for years."
A cough sends blood splattering across the ground. “I had it. I fucking had it…” She says with anger. “It’s these bracers. Oh imagine the slaughter of this thing had these not been here.” She scoffs, dropping her hand from Alexa’s shoulder and finding her footing once more. “Ty…that brooding dragonborn. Yeah, how could I forget? Ignore why he’s breathing now, have him help us out. Use your message thing. You have strength to send that still?”
The smell of burning and charred flesh coats the battlefield. Bodies lay twitching on the ground; blood turning the once black ground red and sticky. The caustic acid vapors mingle with the iron from the blood to create an environment that just assults the scenes. Even though a storm is raging overhead the wind provides little help to relieve the eyes and nose of Rolf.
Crack! Hiss! Steam sends out from the body of the Hydra. The lightning bolt hit it's target. But alas it was not the only vicitim. The sounds of his comrades writhing in pain causes instant regret for Rolf. Utilizing the power of a storm has had great effect on the lizard folk; but the last bolt spread too far and scorched his friends.
While listening to Alexa fear for Solus and Syn; Rolf let's out a quick a few quick apologies.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't intend for you guys to get an arc current. I really am sorry. Are you guys okay?"
Listening to Alexa and Syn talk provides a little relief. They aren't dead or incapacitated. The only solace Rolf can take for the current situation.
Listening to the two converse. Rolf is elated to hear about the plans to live another day as well as the potential boom of extra fighters should escape prove impossible.
Seeing Syn cough up blood prompts Rolf to apologise again.
"Do we need to keep our guard up around them?" Motioning to the Dragonborn obacured partially by the opaque shield filled with volleys from the trees and javalins from the lizards.(edited)
Solus responds to Alexa's concerns by patting her hair back down. It is sticking straight up in more places than one. "I am fine," she says unconvincingly, "these things happen." She is showing fatigue from the assault into dangerous lands. Even Paulo, who holds up the two barriers, is showing signs of being weathered by the number of barbs stuck to the walls.
Ozy cracks his neck to one side, singed and twitching from one eye. "Then stand still and I'll take those bracers off real fast," the tiefling says to Syn's excuse, drawing up the pickaxe over his shoulder from where it once had a Hydra head impaled to the ground. Solus shoots a glare at Ozy, "Not helping. If you want to help, focus that on the enemies." Which gets the two bickering in quick order. 'What enemy? It fucking disappeared.' 'It'll come back, dummy!' 'Will it come back with my Reap stuck in its forehead, because I was about to blow its fucking brains out.' 'Before or after you got electrocuted?' 'Shit, that was just flavor. I feel great.' 'You don't look great.' 'No one asked you.' Paulo takes a deep breath and exhales.
The dragonborn nearby are exceedingly proficient in combat. The larger of the two, Ty, handles the lizardmen with little assistance from the smaller one who casts ice magic. Friend or foe, its not going to matter in a moment as the two start making their way to the disoriented party. "Paulo Mysidi, as I live and breathe," Wyllis says. An astonishing fact that he is, in fact, both living and breathing. As the two get closer, Wyllis' shoulder is gripped by Ty. "Care," Ty grumbles, the sword in his hand nearly as large as he is and goes as far as to sunder the elements around it. The two share a look at each other. Reth. They can feel its infernal aura is strong in this group.
Red eyes shift to the other tiefling, breaking his argument with Solus. “That would be a horrific mistake on your part. Do you want to die?” She glares at him for a moment, stepping forward to pat Solus on the head, helping her tame the wild white hair of hers.
“And you…” Her face contorts to disgust looking across the way towards Rolf. “Learn to cast your magic on the battlefield at the enemy, and only the enemy. Unless you want to kill us off and in turn, have yourself get killed out here as well. Save your apologies. Show with action by… I don’t know, NOT DOING THAT AGAIN!?” She shouts at him, ending with a huff as her attention shifts again to the two dragonborn whom have now approached. “Care is right, this idiot has lightning that will hit whatever it damn pleases.”
Solus' reassurance doesn't convince Alexa, but she doesn't let that show on her face. The parties fatigue is very noticeable to her. As the tieflings bicker, Alexa's attention is drawn to the Targarius' making their approach. The assumed Wyllis seems warm and pleasant in his greeting to Paulo, but she notices a look between the dragonborns that worries her. Glancing over to Paulo she looks to try to figure out how to proceed. She saw Ty die, but in a risky act of time travel. She approaches the two cautiously and errs on the side of ignorance as to not test the fates. Extending her hand to the smaller dragonborn she smiles "Hi, I'm Alexa Stone, thank you so much for coming down when you did. This ground battle is starting to become more than we can handle."
The bickering Solus and Ozy has all the venom of a butterfly antagonizing a bulldog. Ozy scoffs at notion, "I don't make mistakes. I make history," with a big, shit eatting grin. "First these shitfaced dragons and then Jacob himself." Solus appreciates the taming of the hair. Its like headpats. There is never a bad time for the headpats. Ozy shoulders his pickaxe, "And instead of bitching about the things getting in my way I'll just go right through them."
The whole conversation isn't lost on Ty or Wyllis, the two dragonborn that take refuge at the edge of Paulo's barrier. Its not a spacious location to be in, so the two are forced in close proximity. "Who are you and why are you here," the large silver dragonborn asks as he holds his greatsword deftly in a single hand. Wyllis clap his hands together and practically sweatdrops at the unnecessary tension, "Heh, what my brother is trying to say is that this is unexpected for us as well. I am," the younger dragonborn is moments from announcing himself when he is shook with the hand on his shoulders. "We are both from the House of Targarius," Ty interjects before he outs a 'known heretic' by introductions and, if people could bother to remember him, a man of High Treason. Doing whatever 'they damn well please' must be a dragon thing.
Alexa notes the high tension and likely unbalanced power dynamic between the two dragonborns. Trying to lower the tension, she makes sure to address larger dragonborn. "I'm Alexa, and I'm traveling with Syn, Captios, Ozy, Rolf, Solus, and if course it appears you know Paulo." She gestures at each party member as she states their name, although identifying amongst the tieflings while they bicker is a little harder than expected. "We're here to destroy Shirley's egg housed in the black dragons lair, and also assist in the battle against the Byle if possible. Shirley has been causing disease throughout Arhor'ha, and this may be the only way to stop it " she maintains her composure and remains a demeanor of strength, something she feels may fair well with the very large and angry assumed Ty.
"The disease was halted weeks ago," Ty says with a suspecious air in his voice, "when the sky rained down blood itself." Wyllis spends his time inspecting Captios. He can't shake that the man is familiar, "The Captios storm, they are calling it. Coincidence?" his head turns over to his elder as he thinks out the possibilities.
Ty looks over the group with purple eyes that frame up a battle scarred face. "No. I don't believe it is," he concludes quickly, "and I don't know what Shirley is or why you think its still the cause. You have your own reasons for being here and thats enough. However," he releases his hand off of his brother, "Byle is beyond your ability to help with unless enemies get grounded like we just did. Byle himself is beyond you. All of you."
"Fuck you," Ozy says without missing a beat, "I'll fuck his day up."
Wyllis grabs Ty as he stares down Ozy. Solus grabs Ozy. Sparks fly, but that might be the literal thundercloud that Rolf created.
An audible sigh comes from Alexa as Ozy challenges the dragonborn. "We had been working on a cure, and it appears someone completed it for us. Regardless, now that you are grounded, we are seconds from a Hydra reappearing into the world, and we can hopefully help each other as much as possible until we get to Byle's lair." She pauses and looks to the brothers "if you're both alright with that, that is. Hopefully we can get to a point where Paulo can rest from the strain of these barriers he's created."
"Seems like an unnecessary fight," Wyllis, a known heretic who murders babies just to summon more babies to murder, says. "But if it threatens your safety, of course we will help." The smaller dragonborn holds onto the cape of Ty to draw him from engaging with Ozy. Its not an actual show of any force, as Ty looks like he could drag Wyllis if he wanted to.
Ozy barks at Alexa as Solus grabs him by his horns, "Don't trust a fucking dragon," he growls. It could be said that Rolf is the exception. It could also be said that the scorch marks from lightning are still on his clothing.
Ty relaxes his tense stance towards the group as much as a military man can. "Alexa Stone, I'll hold you personally accountable for the actions of this group. The slightest hint of betrayal and its your throat I'll be breaking in my hands. Are we understood?" Seconds are ticking, neither side has much time for diplomacy.
Alexa looks to Ozy, a small amount of anxiety grows in her chest, but she pushes it down. "Understood." She focuses back to Wyllis. "Thank you for your assistance, I was thinking invisibility may help, I can make 3 in our party invisible so we can get away, but I fear it may not be enough to not have the Hydra follow us once he comes back." She can feel the presence of the Hydra trying to make it's way to their current plane. Time is running out
Seeing the tention finally break, Rolf ventures out from behind Alexa.
"Thanks for taking charge Alexa. I was worried there for a minute."
Being appreciative for the help being given by the two dragonborn Rolf says in a grateful tone:
"My name's Rolf. Thank you for being willing to assist us. It won't be long now before the Hydra is free and the terrain makes it so difficult move."
Looking back to Alexa knowing that her fate rests in the hands of us:
"I'll do anything I can to help you out; make sure it all goes smooth. Just ask and I'll do my best."
