Keep Me In Your Memories, Leave Out All the Rest

"This isn't good," the silver dragonborn says as he is hit by a branch whipped up by strong winds. The dark landscape is being drawn into a point in the distance. A dark hole of energy consuming the world they stand on. Ty puts a hand above his brow to shield against the dust.   "Thank the gods you are strong, because you certainly aren't smart with obvious statements like that," the sassy songstress says as she smartly stands behind him and lets him take the brunt of the wind storm. Be'lania motions to the focal point, "Its a way out. So. Lets go hooooommmeee," she says in a sing-song voice.   A grin crawls onto the beast's face. "Already ahead of you," Ty says, literally steps ahead of her by the time she stops singing.   "Hey, you promised not to leave me behind," the girl says as she struggles against the storm to catch up.   "Your fault for believing me," the dragon blooded brute says as he makes his way to the portal where a ghostly visage awaits them. "What in the hells. What, does the way home require instructions?"   Finally Be'lania catches up, panting as she grips the armored soldier's plates for grip. "You... probably... need... it... hah hah hah. Because you are dumb, get it? I spelled out the joke. Because you are dumb."   Ty simply glares down at the girl half of his size. "I will not miss this," he says deadpan as he looks towards the visage of a well dressed wizard.   "Ty. Be'lania. You made it," the ghost of a man says, acknowledging their approach. The expression on his face is dire. Not the welcoming express the two of them expected.   "Shit. Whats the bad news," Ty immediately snaps at him. He is too familiar with this face to beat around the point as big giblets of the world fly around him.   "This magic... has a cost," the visage says as a chunk of earth passes through his ethereal form, "we formed this world here to store... energy. Energy to bring you both home." A brief pause. "But we can't put more in and it is becoming... unstable. At this rate there will not be enough to pull either of you through."   "Oh no! Hells no! You go back and fix it. We want to go home. Its been, like, years," Be'lania yells at the visage as she can't honestly remember how long they have been stuck in this artificial void of a world.   Ty takes a different approach to the conversation, slightly more pragmatic than his excitable friend, "You said 'either of you'. As in, there is enough for one."   "There is enough energy... for one of you. Right now. But the window is closing fast." The portal behind him crackles with unstable blue-white energy to emphasize the point.   Slowly Be'lania's vitality fades to the reality they are facing. The two look at each other as friends with a hard choice to make.   "I have to get back to my sister," Ty explains in simple, cold terms, "no matter the cost. I made a promise and I intend to keep it."   The silence is painful and only broken by the howling of wind and the whiffing of debris around them. The siren snaps her eyes up to Ty and states "I... want you to be the one that goes," in a moment of bravado.   "What? I'm not kidding Be'lania. I'm walking through that portal," he stretches out a large silver scaled hand over to the exit, "You are going to become space dust or worse. Not something you just say 'Well, it was fun, you first'. Fight me for it."   "No," she squints her amber eyes at him as water forms at the edges, "I want you to be the one that goes."   "Then everything you did was pointless. Pointless! You get to the end and give up on your dreams because you have to do 'a bad thing'? Because its hard? Its not even a bad thing Be'lania. I am a horrible fucking person. I have killed people with my bare hands. Innocent people. People in my way, just like you. I have done everything so that my baby sister will never, EVER, have to look at her future son and see him in that pain and I'm not going to stop half way through because some self sacrificing baby is making teary eyed faces at me," Ty roars, "FIGHT ME FOR IT!"   "Its okay," she says as tears stream down her face as each shout makes her shake, "really, it is. I mean, I can't count the times I tried to see my parents. And now. I get to see them. And! I got to get you this far, Ty. You couldn't have done it alone, admit it. So, I did something with my life other than chase some stupid dreams. You will be my legacy. A dragon prince no less! I could do worse. Just... Don't you dare waste it! You better be good to your family and... don't you dare forget me! I will haunt the shit out of you." She laughs sadly, "And look after my half-brother. I don't think he will understand."   The silence is, once more, painful, and made dire by the expiration of the offer for either of them to leave.   "I'll make it quick and painless," he says as breathing becomes harder. The world around them falls apart one stone at a time. Whipped into a void of familiar nothingness. He strikes the small girl swiftly in the back of the head. The force of his callous dragon lineage takes away the pain and the fear of their her moments in this world.   'The end is not such a terrible place,' she thinks. Birds are chirping. How long has it been since she heard birds? It makes her smile in the ether as sunlight warms her face. Her eyes open to a world of fine linen and a room fit for royalty. "Kelemvor, take me to my family," she springs her arms wide out, tossing the covers of her divine bed.   "Kelemvor won't be coming today," says a silver haired man as he steps into the room with his white cat. "You've taken a decent hit to the back of your head. You should rest."   "I'll do what I want," she barks back with a pointed finger. "Wait. Wait. WAIT! Where am I?"   "Crystallis," the soft spoken man says as he whispers down to the cat who quietly pads out of the room.   "There was enough to both of through after all? Some last minute ex machina prayer magic," Be'lania says as she sits up in the royal bed.   "Afraid not," the man replies shortly, "Please be careful about that topic around the lady whose bed you are resting in."   Hugging herself with her arms, Be'lania says, "Aw. Ty was one big softie after all. Like a fluffy teddy bear that was defeated by a tear act." Point Be'lania. The silver haired man stares at her and isn't certain if this was her plan all along. She laughs, "Hahaha, what a big dummy. I won, Ty, you stupid stupidface. Hahaha," she laughs, despite her face being wet, "he was all 'Rawr! Im a bad guy. Imma do bad things. Rawr!' and he... he just..." before breaking down, "... he lied to me! This isn't quick! It isn't painless! I... I hate you! You... sore loser! Stupid... stupid... loser..."   The silver haired man nods gently as he exits the room to give her some space. Outside the room to people are waiting. Her sadness and rage paint the corridors. "Not today. She needs time." Not needing to say anything, the amber and violet eyes of the two coming to see her convey the understanding well enough.
