Deawha Sealant

Shortly after the new hybrid race of people discovered that they could no longer use magic this led to several different problems. One of those problems was how to seal and protect their wood products from rot, insect damage, and decay. All previous methods were magic-based. For decades most just sent the wood off to be treated or got pre-treated wood.
Finally, a carpenter by the name of Kanik Tsolmon got annoyed with how much time he spent waiting to get treated wood or sending it off to be treated. He spent the next twenty years experimenting with the plants that were near his home. He finally found the leaves of the Lethal Strongbark tree, which was the only part of the tree not deadly, with the sap from the Etrew and Acava trees and lastly, the flium grass mixed in the correct order and way created a very strong and long-lasting sealant. By the time of Kanin’s death, there was still no need to reapply the sealant on the first successful batches of Deawha sealant.
The process to create Deawha sealant takes a month with 52 steps that have to be followed or it won’t work. When Kanik first created it he kept it a secret and only taught his children the process. After Kanik Tsolmon’s death and the rise of Hybrid communities, his children decided to share the process with a select few others. To this day the process is kept secret and watched over.

Utility

It is somewhat liquid-solid and is then painted or scraped across the surface of the wood product. When wet it has a light purple color to it but once it is cured it is clear and has a slight shin to it.

Allows the Hybrid people to not be dependent on mages

The finished product is widely spread in the Hybrid communitites and starting to gain popularity with the other races.  Although the recipe is a secret.

Complexity

The creation of this sealant takes weeks and has 52 steps to make it.  The ingredients are leaves from the Lethal Strongbark tree, sap from two different trees the Etrew and Acava, and lastly the Flium grass.

Discovery

20 years of research and testing to find a replacement for all the magic based sealants.  The Hybrid didn't want to have to send their wooden goods off to be treated.
