Naturalist
Naturalists are those that study wildlife. They are found all over Anicarta. There are different branches of naturalists. Bird, mammal, insect, water, and reptile. Some work with big companies, while some with different schools. There are even a few that are solo naturalists or work with just one or two others. The Naturalists that work with a big company or school, have a home base that they work at until they have an expedition come up. Those that work solo, in pair, or in small groups many times are found just wandering constantly around Anicarta. There are a few that work privately for very rich people.
Now the expeditions are normally funded by large companies, schools, or rich people. These expeditions can have Naturalists from each branch or just one or two. The make-up of the expedition depends on what is to be accomplished. These expeditions take the naturalists deep into what most consider uninhabited or hostile lands all over Anicarta.
The time between expeditions can be short just a few months to a few years. The length can run from a few months to a year or two.
The normal expedition is to do a count of those in the naturalist branch, these expeditions are often called check-ups. They return to areas to count and make sure things are still doing well. Another type is the breed expedition, which is an expedition to find and catch specimens in the hopes to get a breeding pair to help the native population. The last kind is a Finding expedition. These expeditions are the favorite among many naturalists. These are the ones where they go deep into the wild and take note of the different animals they find. Some hope to find new species. Others hope to find evidence of an endangered species is on the mend. Lastly, some hope to find evidence of species that have been declared extinct.
