The Severance/Wave of Cataclysm

It was an early morning in the sleepy seaside town of Safolefa on the continent Aucix. People were preparing for their daily activities. It was the first day in a month and the rain had finally stopped. When suddenly there was a loud crack that was followed by a loud rumbling. This sound was heard everywhere and far. All the way to the main harbor which was two day’s travel away from Safolefa. Next thing that was known was that half of Safolefa and the land that it was on was falling into the sea. With in minutes much of the town and the surrounding area had fallen into the sea. The people in the area did what they could to find those that lived in the city. There were a few survivors from Safolefa however, most of those in the town were gone.   Now across the way on the continent Imor it was also a peaceful morning. Many were going about their day. The first town on Imor to notice something was the people of Vona. A few of the fishermen noticed that the sea retreated farther and faster than the normal tides. They sent warning to the town that something was up. In Vona, a guard that was on top of a tower saw a huge wave coming towards the town. He gave warning. With the two warnings the people started to flee. Sadly many were unable to get to safety and lost their lives. One of those that lost their life was in charge of the communication center and sent out one last message to all the towns and cities that they could. This saved many people in the cities that had been warned. This included the large port city Atopolis was able to get many of their people to safety before being devastated by the wave.   The people on Aucix were in shock and didn’t fully understand what had happened. It came to be known as the Severance and some felt that it was a sign from the gods as a punishment. However there were many others that wanted answers so began to look for answers. This lead to what was left of the town Safolefa became a place to study to those that who were invested in understanding what happen. While most of the survivors moved inland and many never lived next to a water source again.   Across the sea in Imor many were also trying to understand what had happened and prepare for another Wave of Cataclysm. It wasn’t until about 100 years later when Imor and Aucix researchers got together and found that the Wave of Cataclysm and The Severance were connected.
