Treaty of Liberty

The Ogresian Dynasty, a well known human kingdom. They are well known for exploring and taking over many other lands. Their homeland was called Odril. For generations they were talked as unbeatable. None had been able to stand up to them. There was some talk that they would take over the whole world. Then in the year 210, a group of humans, hybrids and elves left Odril and set sail on the ocean and found a new land. The new land was full of many discoveries and had an abundance of resources. Where they landed there was a small elf population called Tudic. They called this new land Pia. The Tudic worked with the Odrilians and built cities and trade between them. Even though the Odrillians were mostly free on Pia, they still were still subject to the Ogresian king. When they had left king Arlo Shah had a very hands off approach to many of the different settlements around as long as the settlements gave him his due. However, not long after the Gaipia people, as they were being called, got settled Arlo Shah died. Arlo’s successor was much different in their approach to ruling. His name was Steffan Shah, and he was Arlo’s youngest brother as Arlo’s son was only 15 and wouldn’t be able to take the throne till he was 20 years old, due to their laws. Now Stefan Shah was power hungry, and very greedy. He started with the conquered lands closest to Odril. It wasn’t long before he started taxing and exhorting his authority over the Gaipia. They did not like this one bit. Many times they sent envoys with their complaints trying to work out a mutual benefiting arrangement. Each time they were ignored. This went by for five years before King Steffan over stepped in the eyes of the Gaipia people. He sent troops over occupy several of the towns and sent a announcement stating that he would be taking any young maidens that were deemed fitting back to Odril. Both the Gaipia and Tudic revolted against the Ogresian troops. One of the first things the Gaipia and Tudic people did was to send their young maidens into the wilderness with a few Tudic guides. They then sent a document over to Odril called the Treaty of Liberty which would separate Giapai from Ogresian forever. Once King Steffan received it and found out what they had done he was furious and sent more troops to wipe out the settlements. However, he did not expect the Gaipia and Tudic to be fully prepared and have already taken care of the previous small amount of troops that had already been station there. The officials had been killed or taken into custody, while many of the lower troops joined the Gaipia and Tudic.
The war was going on for six months before the Odrilians elite were suggesting a treaty as they were losing badly. They were worried that some of their other settlements would also rebel. However, King Steffan refused and continued for another six months. In this time Luke Shah, Arlo’s son and group of loyal lords stepped in. Luke Shah traveled to Pia in secret and meet with head of the Gaipia people. He had the treaty, agreed to the terms and signed it. He then went back to Odril and confronted King Steffan. King Steffan refused to step down which Luke was prepared for and a small battle ensued. King Steffan was killed and his loyal supporters were taken and thrown into prison or killed. As soon as this was done Luke was crowned king and he immediately pulled all Ogresian troops from Pia, citing the Treaty of Liberty. Some thought that this was a bad idea just letting go such a resource however they were ignored.
To this day this document is out on display in the Gaipia Republic capital. Many other treaties have been based off this. Inspiring other places to also stand up against the Ogresian Dynasty. Some have their complete freedom but several are free but recognize the Orgesian Dynasty as apart of their government.
