• If the power is contingent on geographical proximity to crystals to manifest, then how does Orithia get the shadow power if she is not in proximity to the Vode Crista?
• ------> That would mean part of the Vode Crista is present in the Light Palace; embedded in a ring gifted to the Empress by the High Priestess
• ------> However, she never thought that the Vode Crista piece, which holds the key to the Void where Chryseia waits, would unlock power in someone else.
• --------------> Why would the royals allow the Vode Crista to touch anyone?
• -----------------------> Considering Lucidae's conquering is from 500 years ago, most of her story has fallen into myth. Now, most people are born with the power and don't realize the connection to the crystals or home crystals aside from drawing power from them.
• What are the conditions that would unlock the shadow power in Orithia?
• ------> When Orithia touches the Lys Crista, it balks at her touch and she faints. Why?
• ------> Because Orithia's inherent gene expression is for the Vode Crista, and you're not supposed to touch the crystals you don't have the power for. But why would she have this gene expression?
• --------------> Because Orithia's mother was gifted the Vode Crista ring by the High Priestess Galatea when she was pregnant with Orithia, causing Orithia to be in closest proximity to the Vode Crista and thus ensuring her gene expression. Galatea is the only one who knows the true meaning of the ring's power. Galatea wants to summon the dark power to remove the Light Court from power, so she gifts the ring to the Empress, who then has a very sickly pregnancy; meanwhile, Orithia matures in her uterus with the dark expression.
• --------------------> Galatea achieves two things: she weakens the Empress, and ensures the heir will manifest shadow power and throw the Light Court into chaos.
• What is Orithia's mission?
• -------> Put the home crystal back together
• -------------> When it was destroyed, the Umbrine priestesses took the pieces with them in the Diaspora, and so there are shards of it across Arkanis. Orithia needs to find a piece from each section of the country to put it back together and concentrate the shadow power
• -------> Find it, and destroy it for good
• -------------> The Vode Crista eluded destruction when Chryseia hid it in the Void, where no one could grab it. However, the weakened crystal network was still around, and the Lumines destroyed as much of it as they could. However, some Umbrine priestesses escaped with some crystal pieces, fashioning them into talismans and keeping them safe in hopes that a Chosen one would someday be born with the power to draw the home crystal from the Void and restore balance.
• What is the timeline for the first book?
• -------> New Light Day = Summer solstice and Orithia's birthday. The crystal's power weakens and the shadows will swallow the world on the longest night of the year, the winter solstice. That leaves roughly six months for the journey.
