Steelwood is a large town located at the north-eastern end of Oreion's Silver Road, at the foot of the Talon Peaks. A hardy mill and mining town, Steelwood has long served as the industrial heart of House Darkcorht's region of the country.
While Steelwood may be rich in natural resources due to its prime location near water, forests and mountains, the consistently bad weather and lack of entertainment in town gives it a permanent dreary atmosphere. Most citizens keep to themselves, and constantly move about in thick cloaks and hoods during most parts of the year.
Besides these features, Steelwood is also known for an aboveground fighting arena simply called 'The Pit', where several unfortunate souls end up to provide a small measure of satisfaction to entertainment-starved onlookers. Outside of the town's walls in the area known as Blue Road's End, an old Veiled Hand military fort serves as the location for the Steelwood Sanatorium. The Sanatorium serves as a treatment center for those afflicted with madness and other mental maladies, and has long been funded and supported by House Darkcorht.
To the west of the town lies the impressive structure known as the Steelwood Dam, which serves as both an agricultural resource and a military checkpoint for the region. It was built to commemorate one of House Darkcorht's appointments to Grand Inquisitor.
