ECHO SHARD

Overview

Echo Shards are special devices made of crystalline shards that are built specifically to create long-distance communication between two or more parties, while ensuring that such communication remains secure. Echo Shards was created by the inventors of the Echo Shard House, an guild of like-minded craftsmen and inventors who discovered the means to create the technology. Echo Shards became the standard of communication used everywhere by different nations, groups, and individuals.

Utility

Usage of Echo Shards is relative simple in design, as Echo Shards are built with touch-activated responses. When a person wishes to communicate with another person, he or she simply grabs their personal Echo Shard in hand or taps it on their wrist-mounted shards. The shard brightens as it imprints the memory of the user, using it as instructions to contact the desired user. The recipient's shard response to the connection by emitting glowing pulses to alert the person. Should the person choose to respond, the two shards create a veil-powered link to allow long-distance communication.

Access & Availability

Echo Shards are widely available to anyone in the lands of Lavantia, as Echo Shards has become apart of the daily life of the peoples of Lavantia. Access is secured through trade agreements between the Echo Shard House & various groups. The Sarton Kingdom tried to gain exclusive control over the technology, but were forced to comply when the Pharas people got involved.

Discovery

Echo Shards were invented by the Echo Shard House, an organization of like-minded inventors & craftsmen. Members were conducting experiments on materials for use in communication, when one of them noticed how a crystalline shard interacted with using inter-realm communication. The shard connected with another shard using inter-realm frequency & sound carried across the Veil, with little issue. Further testing produced the same results without fail. The members soon refined the technology, calling it the Echo Shards. Presenting the technology to the wider organization, they quickly received the backing needed to sell the technology to the nations of Lavantia.
