Personal history

Jean was born in Doylin to two field hands living in the Iron Corner. As a young boy Jean was inquisitive, he would often sneak off and be found hours later making sketches of some bird or plant on tree bark or the occasional napkin, for which he'd be beaten, though this never seemed to deter him. When he was 5 a the daughter of the local farmer baron, on who's farm Jean's parents worked, recived a tutor for her education. Jean would often sneak up to the tutors lectures and would listen outside of the families libary window, just listening to the tutor orate. On several occasions Jean would steal books from the tutor as he went to and fro from the city to the farm estate, for this he would earn even more beatings, these too he would ignore. At 17 he ran away from home on a merchant vessle, after a month of sailing the ship Jean was on was set upon by pirates. The mechant captain slowed and allowed the pirates to board and take what they like without resistance, and thus the crew was spared. When the ship reached their destination, Setta Pad Jean and the rest of the crew was held accountable for the lost cargo and sold into indentured servitude. Jean would wonder why it was that the Pirates they had run afoul were more compassionate than the government and the religion that preached forgivness. This idea would be the basis for Jeans first, and most famous book.
