The Nothingness is more than the barriers; it also makes up living beings. Living beings have 3 Life Strands: a heart, a mind, and a soul strand. A life strand is made up of individualized and specialized strings of Nothingness called Living Silks. The strands of living silk are intricately braided together to form a life strand. Life strands are sacred and revered, and it is deemed taboo and blasphemous to mess with one or many life strands (excluding a few rare cases). A living being can heal and/or repair both the mind and heart strands. But a living being can only create a new heart strand and never repair or create a new soul strand.
Dykumic Mage
Mages from Dykuma can use the Nothingness to store their magicasters. By tugging on specific living silks in a Dykumic's body, they can create a pouch or pocket to store their magicasters in.
Dykumic mages also fall into the rare exception for Life Strand Magick. Dykumic mages can manipulate life strands to do a series of sacred rituals. Dykumic mages can also use forms of the Nothingness to cast spells.
Magicaster Bonding
When a young mage is given a small, white, and blank magicaster, the child must be bonded to it before it can be used. To do so, an ancient scholar specializing in the relation between life strands and magicaster is brought in to do the bonding process.
Bonding Process
The bonding process begins by delicately unbraiding a single strand of living silk from the soul strand and tying it to the magicaster. This creates a bond between the mage and the magicaster. This bond allows the mage to store the magicaster within the Nothingness, allows the magicaster to develop along with the mage, and enables the magicaster to record the spells learned, created, and discovered by the mage within the pages of the magicaster. Because the soul strand is used in this process, the magicaster will develop a personality.
Magicaster
The magicaster will be able to develop with the child as the child develops. The magicaster will design a cover unique to itself based on the child's personality, dislikes, and likes; as the child changes, so will the cover. A magicasters cover is unique and intimate, fully emulating the person's soul. A mage will never willingly show their magicaster unless in battle or a vulnerable, intimate situation. Family members will share their magicaster; excellent friends may as well. The unveiling of a magicaster to a significant other is an essential moment in their relationship. A celebration usually follows it as the unveiling is similar to a proposal that the two wish to spend life together. Magicasters are commonly used in battles (as rare as they may be), and a mage's greatest enemy may know the design of the mage magicaster.
Ooo... I like! Really nice balance of the mystical and intimate .
