Three Flames in Aroka: Fallen World | World Anvil

Three Flames

In the unforgiving desert of Morydal, the Three Flames in the sky above cast their hot, merciless glow across the land. Even before the formation of the Braided Tribes, the peoples of this land and the Sandsea regarded the suns as the gods and masters of their world. Some perceived them as cruel and unfeeling, scorching the earth with their presence without regard for the beings struggling to find enough food and water to live another day. Others believe them to be conscious of the plight of the mortals below, casting their warmth on the land to sustain what little life could endure its intensity, ensuring only the strongest or most resourceful would survive. Regardless of sect, nearly all faiths believe their time beneath the Three Flames to be a great challenge that must be overcome. Some pray to them in hopes of mercy or guidance while others give them no mind or, in some cases, curse them for the difficult lives they lead. Occasional tabernacles and shrines can be found within the cities of the Braided Tribes or among the roving clans between them, but they are frequented by only a few, most of which are elders among their people, having lived before the unification of the tribes and the relative piece and minimal prosperity it created.
