Vidit Gloriam

Man's Ambition

With the final stroke of Godkiller, Corelius struck down Bar'Won. The earth shook, cracking the summit of Kavaul. Of the battalion that stood against the gods, only seven remained. Pools of godsblood marred the landscape, twisting and corrupting, perverting the natural order.

Catalai approached her beloved,

"It is done, my king of kings. The time comes, we must prepare."

Corelius surveyed the destruction. His closest friends and allies dead, torn asunder by the wrath of the gods. It was worth it, it had to be. The cost was so high, but the reward, his birthright, was finally in reach. Corelius dropped Godkiller and embraced Catalai, tears flowing freely.

"Commence the ritual," Corelius said to his remaining comrades, "tonight we ascend."

Vidit Gloriam, referred to by some as Man's Ambition, is the site where, according to legend, the Seven overthrew the Old Gods. This sacred site was thought to be a myth, but recently archeologists from the LaCossian Royal College have unearthed artifacts in the wilds of the Gilded Highlands that point to a conflict between man and celestials.

History

Religious

Vidit Gloriam was the physical location for the Night of Ascenion. This event occurred when the Seven, lead by Corelius, usurped the power of the Old Gods and became the Gods of Man. In the following years, The Seven acted much like the Old Gods once did, walking amongst the races of Aronvell, performing miracles and amassing followers. Over the course of the following centuries, wars began to spread across Akros, each of the Seven claiming portion of the continent as their own and pitting their followers against each other. The unrest continued until the Gods of Men met again at Vidit Gloriam and forged a tenuous peace, and created the Pantheon of Seven.

Cultural

The existence of gods on Aronvell is objective fact. Their powers can be seen every day. Clerics of the Seven reside in every settlement in the LaCossian empire, feed the poor, healing the sick and advising nobility. Yet, for most LaCossian citizens, the gods are just another part of day to day life. When archeologists from the Royal College announced their findings, the results were startling. Waves of pilgrims travel to Vidit Gloriam, hoping to tread the ground that the gods once walked.
