Silvertree Sap
Another gift to the lands, another sword forged.
The sap of the famous silvertrees is an amazing material loved by many adventurers who lack the time to properly deal with the wear and tear of their lifestyle. Able to be forged into a powerful steel for use as a metal or kept in the bark of the silvertree that gets shaved off for use as a material in wooden equipment. This has caused the material to more widely be known as silvertree steel, or silvertree bark, depending on the end result the material is crafted into. Though this does not overshadow it's existence as a delicious treat.
Weapons Weapons, ammunition, armor, and other equipment made of silvertree sap or silvertree bark, repairs damage to itself at a rate of 2 hit points per hour and cannot be permanently destroyed. Druids may use armor and shields made of silvertree sap as if it was not a prohibited material.
Armor Armor and shields made from silvertree sap or silvertree bark can damage weapons that strike them. Whenever the wielder of a weapon rolls a natural 1 on an attack roll against a creature wearing silvertree sap or silvertree bark armor or wielding a silvertree sap or silvertree bark shield, the item must make a DC 20 Fortitude save or gain the broken condition. If the weapon already has the broken condition, it is instead destroyed. Silvertree sap and silvertree bark cannot damage weapons made from materials with a hardness of 20 or higher in this way.
Properties
Material Characteristics
The most notable characteristic is it's sweet green hue and fruity smell that belies it's consumable nature. Silvertree Sap looks similar to a milky opaque rain droplet commonly hidden within the bark of the silvertree. The silvertree itself seemingly resembles the common birch tree, with the exception of it's massive size comparatively and the slight green hue that shines from places where the sap has oozed out of the tree previously.
Physical & Chemical Properties
The most famous property of the silvertree's beloved sap is it's regenerative properties, the bark and sap of the tree able to regenerate and retain it's shape no matter how much it is destroyed. When not yet forged into a usable metal, the sap retains a liquid state that is commonly harmless comparatively.
Geology & Geography
The sap is only found wherever the silvertree lies, the primary locations for one is often located on most modern maps as they were placed by the treeguard. These massive silvetrees are known as the "Great Silvertrees" and are the main source of the sap.
Distribution
Trade & Market
While the material is amazing for its regenerative properties as a metal, quite puzzlingly, the sap of the Silvertrees are also seen as a delicacy among nobles due to its sweet taste and the dangers of acquiring it due to most trees being protected by natural guardians or magically protected depending on whether the tree naturally sprouted or was planted by the Treeguard during the founding of the final brigandine pact. As such, despite being not too rare of a metal, the price is unfortunately inflated.
