Order of the Elk

Description

  The Order of the Elk is a chivalrous and noble Cavalier order inspired by the reverence ancient Bertians held for the majestic Elk, which still stands today. Members of this order are known for their unwavering commitment to honor, their deep connection with nature, and their dedication to protecting their people. They draw strength from the regal and sacred nature of the Elk, embodying its qualities of strength, grace, and leadership. The order's knights and cavaliers are often seen as guardians of the wilderness and defenders of the land, upholding the values of courage, loyalty, and nobility in all their endeavors.  

Order Edicts

  The Cavalier must strive to honor those around him, either allies or villains. As a defender of honor, he abhors criminals, thugs and scoundrels and must defeat them. They also will try their best to defend victims of crimes.  

Order Challenge

  Whenever they issue a challenge, they get +1 on damage rolls against that target. criminals, thugs and scoundrels get -1 to their damage rolls against the cavalier. This bonus/penalty increases by 1 for every 5 levels.   Skills: they add Handle Animal, Knowledge (nobility) and Ride to their class skills. They can attempt any handle animal and linguistics skill checks untrained. Whenever they use ride, they add their charisma bonus to the check in addition to their dexterity modifier.  

Order Abilities

 
Elk Charge (ex)
At 2nd lvl, a mounted cavalier gets bonuses while charging an enemy. At 2nd level, they add +1 that charge attack roll and they deal +1d6 precision damage if successful. This damage increases by 1d6 at 8th level and every 6 levels thereafter. If the cavalier gets a charge damage bonus from another source, the bonus damage stacks.  
Powerful Knowledge (ex)
At 8th level, the cavalier gains the ability to read scrolls and cast arcane and divine spells from a scroll as if he had a caster level of his cavalier level –4. He can decipher all scrolls, using his Linguistics skill in place of Spellcraft, and does not need to cast read magic in order to decipher a scroll.  
Elk's Challenge (ex)
At 15th level, the cavalier can make this challenge once per day. This functions like a normal challenge, but the cavalier adds his Charisma bonus on all attack rolls and damage roles made against the target of his challenge. In addition, he receives a +4 circumstance bonus on attack rolls made to confirm critical hits against the target of his knight’s challenge.
