Tribal Confederation of Chunoi (koo-noy)

Nomadic tribes of horse riders, most likely descendants from the Sythanian war tribes. Their nomadic lifestyle and their knack for raiding has been a thorn to Varsemian lands for centuries.   This tribal confederacy occupy the western part of the plains of the Ghobi, connecting inland with the Gernian tribes.   For centuries, the tribes have spread havoc in the western and northern world, descending as wild devils on horseback, torches ablaze, pillaging the landscape and burning the fields. Indeed it is said that a bountiful summer followed by a harsh winter is most certainly a welcome mat for these riders. Though their inner quarrel has made them manageable by the western world. That changed with the ascension of the man who is now known as the Scourge of Gods.   The Chunoi have become an increased threat since Artilar and his brother (Bledra) became rulers. The brothers inherited several tribes from their father and quickly began the process of uniting the many Ulnuc tribes scattered throughout the land. Now, with a massive army of skilled horse riders at his disposal, Artilar forces the Varsemian nations to pay him tribute to avoid a new calamity to descend upon the West.   The Gernian tribal monarchies struggle with the tributes, but it is either that or surviving a winter (or several) with no food. Even the mighty Cretian and Zancian Empires tremble in thinking these slated wild men that burn and destroy their gods temples pay tribute to avoid quarreling with this united front.   To the East, they share borders with their cousins, the Ulnuc Khanate, an equally fearsome nation, whom they have a non-aggression pact.   The Chunoi are skilled horse archers, but what makes them apart from their Sythanian and Ulnuc cousins is their brutal war tactic of burning the fields of their pillaged victims, inflicting a sense of despair and fear to those that dare face their wrath. Indeed their expertise in wielding torches as effective weapons makes them an enemy not to be trifled with.

Main Hub

Sicambria

Usually resting atop a hill, this mobile giant encampment serves as the main hub for the many tribes of the Chunoi Confederation.   With no walls to defend itself, it benefits from every citizen being an able soldier to defend itself, preferring to charge down an incoming enemy with their mounts.   The hub serves as the main site for Artilar and Bledra's operations. Who study the lay of the land and prepare for the heavy winters in the Ghobi. Even though it is not a city, and they are known as quite hostile, Artilar is no fool and as made an effort to make it as hospitable as his tribes can muster to potential visitors.   Several trade caravans are granted safe passage and even to trade their goods with them. While the two brothers inner court is actually made of several people of diverse nationalities.   Even though they abhor most religions, Chunoi are superstitious folk and worship their local deities. A foreigner visiting and showing respect to these deities might find himself surrounded by tribal folk who are eager to show him their hospitality.   While they do not use docks, they harbor the trade caravans and foreigners amidst their ranks. With even a primitive sense of inns scattered throughout the hub, where foreigners can rent a Yurt instead of a room, and eat communally with the tribe.
