Breaking of the Guildpact

Events leading up to the celebration of 1000 years since the signing of the Guildpact into magical law saw its undoing with actions of Szadek and the revelation of the tenth guild: House Dimir.

The day before the millennial celebrations saw a number of terrorist attacks occur in Ravnica. One of the casualties of these attacks was Saint Bayul, a member of the Selesnyan Chorus.   Agrus Kos, an officer of the Wojek Legion with the assistance of the Band of the Lark, managed to prevent the attack on Mat'Selesnya and capture Szadek in the process.   However, the arrest of Szadek and revelation of House Dimir was in direct conflict of the laws of the Guildpact which bound to secrecy the existence of the tenth guild. The legal paradox caused the Guildpact and the magical protection it provided the city to cease upon the sentencing of Szadek. Immediately, the city devolved into a state of martial law.
