Orientation day festivities turned sour in the magical college town of Oxenford as the remains of three frost giants were reanimated to wreak havoc on its inhabitants.

A fun party tradition where revellers, most of whom were students, joined hands around the town was instead part of a ritual used to reanimate the corpses of three frost giants previously slain in the town centre. The ritual drained lifeforce from those linking hands with most perishing as a result. The town centre soon turned to bedlam as the frost giants retrieved their weapons from the Three Axe Inn (so-called for the three enormous axes it had on display) and began to slaughter indiscriminately.   The frost giants might have wiped out the entire town if the Band of the Lark had not been there. The Band used wits to take down the giants as they battled Asmus, a Goliath Necromancer and relative of the giants who had reanimated them in order to take revenge.
