Hard Fight in Horse Friend

Expedition

A promise of a hidden cache of valuables saw the Band divert from their course to the abandoned village of Horse Friend. There, they would face ash zombies, plant creatures, giant spiders, cultists and a Green Dragon.

To thank the Band for her rescue, one of the prisoners released from the Redbrand Ruffians in Armford gave up the location of a stash of valuables her family left behind when they had to abandon Horse Friend when a nearby volcano erupted. Having some time to spare before they had to arrive at the tournament at Brushwood-on-the-Marsh, the Band made Horse Friend their next destination. Upon arrival at Horse Friend, they found the town overgrown with vines and webs with many warning signs posted on the path into the village.   Soon after setting foot within the village, the Band had to contend with zombies that crumpled to ash as they were attacked and awakened plants. After a few confrontations, the Band made contact with an unsociable Druid named Reidoth. In few and obtuse words, the druid warned the Band to the dangers of the village including a Green Dragon.   The Band cleared the village of the twig blights, ash zombies and giant spiders before they made contact with the cultists. The group, calling itself the Cult of the Dragon, were there to forge an alliance with the dragon. Lumizavar, being Dragonborn, ingratiated themselves with cultists and concluded that it would be best if both groups went to negotiate with the dragon together.   The negotiations with Venomfang did not go smoothly and a fighting began rather quickly. The acid breathe from the dragon made quick work of most of the cultists as well as both Keelor and Shrieky. However, Shrieky was then possessed by the Nilbog and turned the tide in the party's favour and they were able to down the dragon before it escaped. But without the entertainment of the dragon, the Nilbog began to take action against the members of the Band. After overcoming the seeming invulnerability of the Nilbog, Krusk managed to knock it out.   Amongst the dragon's hoard, the Band found the bonded pair of battleaxe and hand axe, Hew and Hewing. Having succeeded at retrieving the stash, the party returned to their journey after slaughtering the dragon and selling off its parts in Darkwater.
