Shade

When a person ceases to be a human, they become a shade. It is not a scientific process and the criteria is unknown, maybe non-existent. Not much is known other than it is a symptom of Chainblight. It could arise from other causes but they are unknown. The most famous examples are the Usurper Trinity and their subjects who died with them. They rose from the grave and became shades. The power of a shade is based on the person who became such a things power in life. Those too weak would simply have their minds turned to mush as they rip out their own brain. The strongest approach the powers of Gods as did the 3 Lords. Those said strong may even retain their personality and memories, though only the most violent and detestable traits. Also according to strength of the victim, size would increase with the largest recorded being Herward, Lord of Avarice who grew to a size of 9'1" in height. Although there are physical elements that remain human, they are still more beast than man, writhing and grasping and scraping constructions of scarlet goo held together by the mind of the one vying for control. Limb number can vary as can eye and other features. But no matter the state of a Shade, it deserves no pity.
