King Taliesin
Monarch of the Red Realm (a.k.a. The Boy King)
Following the death of his father and many siblings, Taliesin ascended to the throne of the Red Realm in the year of his birth. The realm was ruled by regents on his behalf and they were harsh times for the Red Realm. Famine, plague, and consistently-receding territory led to infighting and conflict within the city walls.
The nobility and extended family had reached agreement that regency would continue until Taliesin reached age twenty, but with the kingdom crumbling, Taliesin wrested control from the Regency Council at sixteen in a violent series of assassinations. Unfortunately, even these drastic measures did not settle the unrest, and Taliesin's reign was plagued with violence and strife.
Following the birth of his son, Galvyn II, Taliesin feared that his death might bring similar strife on his own son. He issued a proclamation for regency should his son ascend early. Under Taliesin's proclamation, the Queen consort would serve as regent until the heir reached age fifteen, or until the time of her death.
Taliesin was assassinated five years later at the age of 24. His son Galvyn II was crowned, and his wife Queen Esme served as regent for ten years.
