Also known as "Mind Flayers" for their psionic abilities and tendency to devour the brains of mortals, Illithids are an incredibly intelligent, and equally dangerous, species.

Illithids stand tall and lithe. They are humanoid in physique. It is believed that mind flayers are created from humans and other like species.

In mind flayer colonies, the illithids exist as a hive mind, under the domination of a creature called an Elder Brain.

Facial characteristics

Illithids are easily recognizable by the four tentacles extending from their mouth. They use these tentacles to grip around a victim's head while they use their mouth to crush its skull and devour its brain.

Average Intelligence

Extremely perceptive, intelligent, and cunning. Do not enter into a battle of the mind with an illithid.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Mind Flayers communicate telepathically, they can reach into the minds of other creatures around them, and can even exert control over weak-willed people.
