Minnepodi

Children of Invention

Minnepodi (meaning "Little Paws") is a varied race of sapient rodentfolk. They are children of Ghezen, born of his ingenuity and creativity.

While they resemble common rodents such as rats and mice, Minnepodi have no genetic relation with their animalistic kin. Yet the general reputation of rodents as vermin still hinders the the lives of Minnepodi within the Kingdom of Stopstalk, despite being quite common within city walls.

Renowned Recyclers

Minnepodi are blessed with their astral father's creativity and inventive nature. They are extremely adept at finding use for all things. For this, Minnepodi are natural engineers, builders, scavengers, and inventive mages. They can pick up and master new skills quicker than any. There is a saying among tradesfolk when faced with a difficult problem, that "this puzzle requires smaller paws" in reference to the Minnepodi's name.

Anatomy

Minnepodi resemble anthropomorphic rodents, though they have no real genetic relation. The exact morphology of each Minnepodi varies by individual, and so further classification has proved impossible. The minnepodi tend to inherit only certain specific traits of their astral ancestor, Ghezen.

Minnepodi have a highly waste-free culture. Everything made can be used, reused, and recycled into something new. This philosophy extends past mere material production; The Minnepodi have long-standing traditions of renewal and rehabilitation for their people that allow those who have fallen on hard times to regain their lives. A minnepodi community won't give up on anyone within their reach.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Minnepodi are common all over Arxios proper and into the southlands. They prefer the warmer climates in the center of the province, avoiding the high mountains on either side.

There is only one proper Minnepodi settlement, the Boomtown of the Broken Down; Or "Boomtown" for short, which rests on the south side of the kiln in the territory of Clan Ashhand.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

All Minnepodi possess keen noses, and eyes that easily adapt to the darkness. Some Minnepodi are also born with exceptional hearing.

Average Technological Level

Thanks to their ceaseless tinkering and experimenting, Minnepodi are on the cutting edge of technology in Arxios. They work closely with the engineers in the Kiln to bring their designs to life at record pace.

The crown jewel invention of the Boomtown-Ashhand collaboration is the Aether Crystal: A crystal formed entirely of solidified magic energy, which can be used to power great machines, such as the A.I.R.B.N.B, which soars over Arxios like the dragons of old.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

The Minnepodi have their own language (also called Minnepodi), which consists of a series of squeaks, chitters, and growls that convey meaning based on the user's tone and inflection. It is written phonetically in the Common script, and therefore incredibly difficult to decipher. For this, Minnepodi scribes have invented numerous accents and symbols that denote tone in writing.
