Lord Drannor
Lucian Stannislav Drannor is the ruler of Belmere, and has been for countless years. He is revered for his intellect and wisdom throughout the continent. He has maintained Belmere as a trading-capital for long time, with none disputing his reign. However, there are rumours of just how old Lord Drannor is, for none can recall his entry into lordship. Some say he is immortal, others say he is a poweful sorcerer, but all are to scared to truely find out.
In truth, Lucian is a vampire lord, and a powerful one at that. He has ruled Belmere for hundreds of years.
Lucian was the Son of Velkan Drannor and Areana Valastra. The Drannor family were the founders of Belmere. Starting off with nothing but a dream, They managed to create what would be the most robust and promiment settlement in the whole of Aryndel. In order to certify a peaceful and robust kingdom for Aryndel, The royal Valastra family issued a marriage between their daughter and the son of Drannor family. This early union forged a strong alliance between the Royal Capital and the soon-to-be trading capital. They had 3 healthy sons, with Lucian being the youngest. being the last in line to inherit Belmere, he focused on swordsmanship and arcane prowess, abandoning any lust for power through nobility in favor of power found through self-potential. He quickly became a renowned swordmage.Lucian renounced upper class nuisances in favour of the pursuit of excellence and aptitude.
However, a strange dissapearance of Lucian's eldest Brother Radoslav one night turned the whole of belmere upside down. With Areana stricken with grief and Velkan riddled with rage, they spent every rescources scouring the whole of aryndel for their son. It wasnt until a certain bloodhunter by the name of Coen was contracted and able to find the brother, who had been striken by a horrible curse that had turned him into a Lycanthrope, causing him to ravage the township and surrounding regions before he decided to flee to save everyone from himself.
Too ashamed of his of his form and the things he had done, he wishes to be done with this life, and put his family at peace, but not taint the family name. The Bloodhunter did what was asked.
The news of their eldest son sent Areana into such a deep state of grief that she died of sadness. Velkan struggled to maintain his steadfast self but continued to rule firmly and justly. years past until the day came that Velkan finally past on, and the second eldest was to become the lord. Instead of marrying into one of the royal family's as originally arranged, Nikolai Drannor found love within a herbalist woman he found on his way to a Valmoor for a royal banquette. so inlove he was that he refused his advisors and married this seeminly common herabist as soon as he could. As time went on, Nikolai began to change in attitude and mind, growing foul and paranoid, he banished his brother in fear of usperpation, locked the city up and began all manor of questionable things. Belmere was plunged into a dark age, while Lucian sought answers and grew in power as an adventurer.
After Learning that this so called herbalist was in actual fact a powerful hag, He returned to bring this monster to justice and attempt to free his brother. However, he was brought to the brink of death during his travels back by monstrous creature. healed by a beautiful human woman, Lucian found his life in the hands of this village nurse - Xara, and her son Marco. Soon after Lucian recovered he found himself returning the favour, defending their humble forest village from a Savage Orc attack. Although he manage to save the lives of Xara and Marco as well as several others, many lost their lives and the village was completely ruined. He offered a place for these refugees in Belmere, adamant now on restoring it to its rightful state.
After he revealed the hag for what she was, a long battle ensued, which ended with lucian the victor, but at the cost of his brothers life, and a curse by the hag to be the withered end of his bloodline, rendering him infertile.
Now the last of his bloodline, Lucian took up the mantle of lord of belmere without glee, as the doom of his bloodline pending on his mind with every passing day. He found Solace in his new wife and foster son, which although does not carry his blood, is as close to a son as he would ever get.
A period of peace was broken by the catastrophic event known as the Resurgence, which saw an apocalyptic upheaval in the number of monsters and chaotic magic - as the barriers between the planes had been dissolved. This calamity saw many perish, one of which was a monstrous siege on Valmoor and Belmere, which the cities just barely survived.
A sizeable army was drafted from all to fight back and defend, including Marco. This brought great worry in Lucian, not to mention he wished not to see his people and city sent to their dooms.
Forced to search in forbidden and dark magics, he learns of a hidden shrine lost to time to an entity of another plane known as the abyss....one of death. seeking it out and managing to form an intervention with this sacraligious deity, he forges a deal with the lord of undeath, Orcus:
the might to end such catastrophy and raze all that threaten his family, people and city. the power to ensure his bloodlines legacy eternal forever more, and the vow that no gift shall be retracted by the other
In exchange, Lucian would eliminate the being responsible for the resurgence; A lich named Tarul Var who had begun to steal the tribulated deaths from Orcus, attempting to become the new Prince of Death. Lucian would also reap death and misery in tribute of Orcus, as well as sacrificing one he holds dear - his son, his love or his people. Harrowed by the choice, Lucian chose to sacrifice his son. The wand graced him with the power of death - the might to end those that would end his city and people, including the Lich. the blood transformed him with the power of immortality - turned into a vampire lord with eternal blood to ensure his dynasty's survival The Vow assured Lucian that the guileful demon lord could not double cross him. with his new found strength, he solely defended Belmere and the surrounding regions from the onslaught, cutting throw even the toughest of monsters, and using his new powers from orcus to destroy the powerful Lich Tarul Var - who was responsible for the Resurgence As the resurgence began to resolve, and the calamity settled, Lucian quickly learned of the detriment his wishes carried with them. Once the Arynians Fled for reasons unknown to Lucian, an unsettled nature washed over aryndel as he was seen as the subsequent leader. The wand filled his mind with tyrannical and unwelcomed thoughts of mongering and destruction, sending him on a crusade of destruction across aryndel against adversaries and userpers that wished to steal his seat of power. However he struggled to slate his savagery and found himself so delluded with death that he was butchering innocence that had even spoke with usurpers. The vampirism granted by the blood allowed him to live forever, ensuring the survival of his bloodline, however at the cost of a heart of stone, his love for his family quickly became a memory rather than a feeling. his humanity drowned out by a predatorial lust for blood.
Xara was sickened with grief and depression after the loss of her son, an the strange turn her husband had taken. Lucian attempt to consol her in his little time in the city, but his attempts with gifts and hollow empathy did nort but sour the wounds. Some time passed unitl Xara took her own life in an attempt to find peace once and for all. The veil of darkness and evil that consumed Lucian cracked when he lost his wife. Realising the price of what he had gained, and resenting himself for it, he decided to attempt to destroy the wand once and for all, but realised he would soon die in his undead state before destorying the wand truely, and his death would mean the death of his dynasty - all he had left. Instead, Drannor hid the wand deep beneath Belmere in the most secure vault he could fathom, dedicating his life to continuing the city, and protecting the wand from the hands of those that would spread its demise. He renounced its dark power as best he could, taking years to building his resilience, but has managed to overcome much of his evil nature, and retaining the slither of humaninity remained.
