Soul Crystal

Created by ancient necromancy and transmutation magic, the soul crystal is able to act as a large-scale phylactery capable of holding any size of soul from thousands of smaller souls to a singular massive soul. Theoretically whoever uses the crystal properly could hold even the soul of a god which is and was widely believed to be impossible due to the sheer size of a god's soul.
History
Said to have been found in the depths of the astral plane, the soul crystals' origins are unknown but its story in the material plane is more easily traced. Rumors surrounded the crystal from hundreds of years ago with many believing the magic stone to hold the key to true eternal life however whether the crystal truly existed was debated upon. It wasn't until the whispers that Silas Grey the feared Wizard of Ash and Bone not only knew the truth of the stone but even possessed the soul crystal itself.
