Lizardfolk, Swamp

The lizardfolk of the Great Swamp are aesthetically similar to crocodiles. They have thickly armored hides, are able to hold their breath underwater for incredible amounts of time, and have the ability to swim great distances with little trouble. Their native environment is difficult for the other races to traverse and as such they have little exposure to outsiders, making them moderately xenophobic. These lizardfolk are less intelligent than the average human and are prone to acting on instinct in a savage way instead of talking out a problem.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Large, crocodilian humanoids that possess incredible strength. The lizardfolk of the Great Swamp are not to be trifled with.

Genetics and Reproduction

The lizardfolk of the Great Swamp lay clutches of eggs, anywhere from 12 to 36 eggs, that they keep safe inside their nests.

Growth Rate & Stages

Growth rate varies depending on the temperature, but they are considered adults when they are able to kill and hunt for themselves.

Ecology and Habitats

Native to the Great Swamp on the continent of Isliari, this sub-species of Lizardfolk is most comfortable in humid climates with plenty of water to submerse themselves in.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Primarily a carnivore, they will occasionally consume vegetable matter to aid in digestion or illness.

Swamp Lizardfolk Traits

Swamp Lizardfolk possess the following racial traits.
  • +4 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence.
  • Medium: As Medium creatures, desert lizardfolk have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
  • A swamp lizardfolk's base land speed is 30 feet.
  • Swim Speed 30 feet.
  • Bite Attack: 1d8 Piercing
  • Hold Breath (Ex): A swamp lizardfolk can hold its breath for a number of rounds equal to 4 × its Constitution score before it risks drowning.
  • Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, a swamp lizardfolk must hit with its bite attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, the swamp lizardfolk establishes a hold on the opponent with its mouth and drags it into deep water, attempting to pin it to the bottom.
  • +2 to spot and listen checks.
