Hawm City
Hawm City is the capital city of Hawm Province. It is located on the northern shore of the River Rothum, aproximately 350km north of Landen. Though it has fallen in importance, status, and influence over the centuries, Hawm City is one of the very first human settlements on Ashvaarya, and can date it's origins to even before the Sunder. For the first century or so of it's settlement it was a major port in humanities western expansion up the River Rothum, production of lumber and all manner of food products, and Skla'vin trade overland from Dr'k *ks *ah, and was often referred to as "the second city".
As other settlements like Lashaan's Vigil, Rothum's Bay, Sheridan's Rest, and Entsimbi established themselves and grew esplosively, Hawm more and more became simply a place to stop on the river on the way to somewhere else. As those other settlements grew into powerful city and nation states of their own and conflicts between Councils, Kings, Mayors and Lords became more common, Hawm became briefly more relevant again for it's trade connections with the Skla'vin. With the lack of mineral wealth amongst the "olde easterner" settlements and the waining influence of even Landen, the ability to trade for iron, nickle ore, and even raw shine, kept Hawm economically and strategically relevant.
When Hawm joined Landen, Heind, and Zaahan in the Caalesh Accord, it's influence quickly rose again. This was short lived however, as Rothum's Bay joined the alliance only a year later, once again turning Hawm City into a simple stop over between Rothum's Bay and Landen.
Following the fall of Septur and the beginning of the muada attacks on human settlements north of the River Ora, humanity united against the muada threat and the various city states, nations, and kingdoms let go of past conflicts to sign "The Austur Declarations". This change, often referred to as "Unification" saw the inception of provincial borders, capital cities, and the formalization of the guild system accross all human settlements and lands.
With this, everything between the Arid Hills and the Skla'vin border was carved off as a new province: Drylands, leaving the remaining teritory of Hawm Province even smaller and more sparsely populated than it had been.
Today, Hawm City is once again primarily seen as little more than a source of @skla metal goods, and a comfortable stop over between Rothum's Bay and Landen.
