Fire-Dust

Written by Baconblobfish

Fire-Dust is a red hot dust found along the walls and in the air around hot underground environments and sometimes around the edges of a volcano peak. Fire-Dust is the magical ash that sprouts from lava/magma and infuses with the Bubble Stone along the walls of the caves Fire-Dust is found in.   Fire-Dust is used primarily by Stardust Smiths who use it in the Fire-Dust Forge to make Pure Stardust weapons and armors. But Fire-Dust is available to the general public and is used in most cooking and manufacturing fields as well as home heating. Fire-Dust can flash heat any material to make glass or make metals soft enough to mould but can only be in there no more than a second or the metal will liquify and become useless. Metals heated by Fire-Dust must be cooled in solid ice chambers because the temperature will instantly vaporize normal water used in general smithing but if the ice is packed tight enough it won't melt through all that much.   The only material that cannot be affected by the heat of Fire-Dust is Bubble Stone which is always found alongside Fire-Dust. Fire-Dust is stored inside of Bubble Stone containers which allow it to be transported without injury. But the downside is that Bubble Stone is fairly heavy.

Properties

Material Characteristics

A hot red dust that often steams outside of where it is found.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Fire-Dust is always burning at a high temperature, around the same temperature of molten magma.

Geology & Geography

In the deep depths of caves and in hot volcanic areas.

Origin & Source

Molten rock

Life & Expiration

After 100 years it begins to cool

History & Usage

History

Fire-Dust was originally used as an intense heat source for Stardust Smiths in Fire-Dust Forges. But now it is used as an intense heat source in cooking and home heating.

Discovery

It was first discovered by an unknown Stardust Smith down in the hot depths of a certain cave and was used in a forge to make Stardust materials.

Everyday use

Cooking, Heating

Industrial Use

It is often used to flash heat a lot of metals and materials that require heat to boost production time.

Refinement

Fire-Dust can only be found and used in the dust state.

Manufacturing & Products

Pure Stardust Weapons and Armors. Glass, low-end weapons and armors.

Byproducts & Sideproducts

After 100 years it cools down into a regular ash.

Hazards

The temperature and lead to serious burns if not handles properly and can melt through or burn down any building is not contained securly.

Environmental Impact

If left outside of its natural cave can burn down fields in a matter of minutes.

Reusability & Recycling

The ash made after it cools can be used to make a special type of glass that is stronger than regular glass.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Most exotic merchants carry around at least a pinch of Fire-Dust as they can charge a fortune for it.

Storage

Must be kept in a Bubble Stone container and closed until use.
