Genasi
Genasi are the result when a mortal catches the eye of a Genie. Like the other "half-races", Genasi find it difficult to "fit" in normal society. They might go their entire lives without encountering another one of their kind. There are no great Genasi cities or empires. Genasi seldom have communities of their own and typically adopt the cultures and societies into which they are born. The more strange their appearance, the harder time they have. Many Genasi lose themselves in teeming cities, where their distinctiveness hardly raises an eyebrow in places accustomed to a variety of different people.
Genasi can take one of four forms, corresponding to the four elements:
- Air Genasi tend to be whimsical and can be quite unpredictable, as they sometimes can quite literally "go with the wind".
- Earth Genasi tend to be more stern and hardy than the other elements and can be more pensive and take time to make adjustments or come to a decision. This can be both a blessing and a curse, depending on the situation.
- Fire Genasi are very expressive and tend to be the most "emotional" of the elements. They are also the proudest of the bunch, choosing to flaunt their characteristics rather than conceal them. Fire Genasi also tend to be impatient and rash, choosing to act now and think later.
- Water Genasi are the most independent of the elements, which often spurs them towards the "loner" or isolated lifestyle. When are Water Genasi does live amongst or encounter others, they can come off as selfish or self-fulfilling, but this is more from lack of social interaction than purposeful intent.
