The Great City of Mordehan

The great city of Mordehan, The City of a Thousand Faces, has always been a source of intrigue in Askobar. Finding itself Nestled in a protected bay, it was always a safe haven for those who wish to hide from something - or someone. This longstanding history has become a proverb in the town, leading to the phrase; "Even a House has four sides", to note the multiple faces of the town and, as it often is, its people. Make no mistake, this city is not easily taken by outsiders, but this hasn't stopped it's expanse into trade, as such a safe harbor will always welcome ships into it's midst. With these longstanding traditions in place, it should come as no surprise that all manners of peoples have found homes here, and as such, there are few places better to look for obscure information. Perhaps because of this, the city is home to the Library of the Long Forgotten, A temple for texts and tomes from tales lost to the public, and the legends that no one wishes to hear. The city, due to its nature, has long harbored a crime problem. Thievery and Burglary are as common as rain, Leading to the saying, "Another Rain-Drop, Another Stolen Coin". The government in this town has had a long-standing tradition of being run by several of the crime families that can be found within the city. The rivalries and alliances of these family have become so convoluted as to make it where some poor sob can cross the wrong street at the wrong time and be whisked away by some figures, never to be seen again. As with many things with smaller focuses, religions have always seemed to thrive in the city. Perhaps it's immense size had deterred large-scale inquisitions, or its already shady character had allowed for smaller bands to slip through the cracks, but whatever the case may be, it cannot be denied that Mordehan has harbored some of the nastier religions to ever be brought to light amongst some of the best.
