Keldrar People
The Keldrar People are a group native to the rainforests and wetlands on the south-eastern coasts of North Aralun. Their total number is not known due in parts to their semi-nomadic lifestyle and their secretive culture. While the majority of Keldrar live within their ancestral forests, large numbers also live in Asashun and Thalore.
The Keldrar are descendents from the Rana tribes who refused to bow to the expanding Ankaran Empire during the years marking the end of the Age of Swords and the beginning of the First Age of Darkness. They chose instead to traverse the southern reaches of the Dragon Range and sought to hide in the rainforests.
The Keldrari language has been heavily influenced by both the now extinct Ranish (a precursor language to Ankaran) and Asun. The Keldrar eschewed the Sky Gods, instead placing faith within their own magical and martial capabilities. This element of atheism has heavily influenced the culture and beliefs of the Keldrar, who place far more importance on family and respecting your elders than on the gods, while the dense and dangerous rainforests of their new home have influenced their medicine and cuisine.
This emphasis on respect for your elders has been a major cultural export with Asashun being heavily influenced by this throughout the First Age of Darkness as the Keldrar agreed to fight the Sky Gods with the followers of the Dark Ones. It has also seen the traditional vrashpa - an armour made from the skin and scales of the local veiled Kudu - being adapted by Asun warriors to present to their family as a token of their oath to protect them.
