The Glawdean (Glo-dee-ann)

The Glawdean are a nomadic tribe of sepricaen elves, native to The Elvara Forest. Firm worshippers of the Guardian Belanir and his four daughters, the Glawdean pay homage to the cycles of the weather, prioritising natural harmony and balance in all things.

Belanir According to the Church of Ethera

Belanir is an androgynous deity, whose principal purpose is to maintain the elements of the material plane in near perfect harmony, so that life on Elvara can thrive. Vast fluctuations in weather patterns, or natural disasters, are believed to be the work of the Demon Lords. Intent on bringing chaos to the material plane, the Demon Lords have an army of chaotic manifestations, known as inimicals. These hostile elementals are charged with disrupting the balance that Belanir works so tirelessly to maintain.   It is Belanir’s responsibility to challenge the demon spawn, and their raw divine power often puts paid to the inimicals swiftly. This results in only mild disruptions to the elemental balance, affecting the weather, for example.

A different approach

The Glawdean pay homage to both Belanir and the Inimicals.   They view inimicals not as evil but as tricksters; mischievous nature spirits whose very existence provides the fleeting moments of elemental counterbalance necessary for the existence of the natural world. For example, without water inimicals, rain would cease to exist, as would the sacred forest of Elvara.   The Glawdean celebrate and worship four of Belanir's supposed daughters: Aeda, Aquira, Daena and Nadea. They are viewed as the nature queens of their respective elementals.

Ceremonies and Rituals

The Glawdean are a ritualistic tribe. They perform ceremonial dances in order to summon nature spirits and cleanse the earth with rain. The approval of the spirits ensure that crops and foodstuffs would grow, animals would thrive and the entire tribe would be sustained from the earth.   They have also been known to fashion idols out of feathers and twigs as a way of encouraging the visitation of certain inimicals. If rain is needed, they soak the idols in water, if sun is needed they burn them. If they are praying for fertile soil, they bury them and if wind is needed (for pollination, for example) they tie the idols to the highest branches of the tallest trees.
