Travelers
Travelers are the result of The Echo, a strange magical / metaphysical phenomenon that occurs every 50 years since The Great Calamity / The Heliocide, which briefly overlaps realities due to the resonating of magical energy (resonant energy), where energy waves will ebb and flow between two states of reality.
During every recurrence of this strange effect, people from other realities are suddenly merged into Astara's timeline almost seamlessly, without realizing it and as if they've always been there. Now stranded in a world familiar but different, these confused folks are known as Travelers. It is unclear why or how certain individuals are affected, however it is thought that perhaps these individuals resonate themselves with a similar magical frequency as the echo, such that it pulls them along with it as it ebbs back into Astara.
Due to their unique circumstance being lost and confused, trapped in a reality that is perhaps partially similar to their own but more likely all too different, most Travelers do not have a high likelihood of survival, especially given the dangerous nature of post-calamity Astara. Even those that managed to find civilization or a refuge of some kind, were often turned away or alienated because people thought they were crazy - after all, who would believe that someone one day appeared from another reality. Therefore, in order to assimilate, Travelers are likely to not share details of their past and instead assume a new identity in Astara.
Travelers are otherwise not unlike other creatures that inhabit Astara, however there are two important differences:

Travelers are otherwise not unlike other creatures that inhabit Astara, however there are two important differences:
- Time operates slower in Astara, at about 1/10th the rate of other realities. 100 years in Astara would only be equal to 10 years in Faerun. Therefore, Traveler's age much slower than other beings in Astara and will have an extended lifespan due to this.
- During a recurrence of an echo every 50 years, a traveler can detect this disturbance until the event passes.
