House Tormund
One of the most powerful noble houses in Drasser, House Tormund has survived through the ages on their commitment to duty and the well being of those they rule. Controlling a section of the country, the house has complete control over the operations of four settlements: Hargrove, Sanlow, Azmar, and Stathford. Hargrove contains their seat of power, and the town’s population and size sometimes raises the question of the settlement’s status as a town. While the name Tormund holds weight throughout the region, it is not what brings the family international fame. The School of the Iron Wall, based in Hargrove, trains all who come in and their Iron Paladins are known throughout Ilucin.
Each settlement controlled by a member of House Tormund, with the rank of General being a prerequisite. House Tormund holds these rulers in the highest regard, and even a minor member controlling a settlement is respected. This is not the case with every royal house in Drasser, as many give the village posting to those of low standard within the house.
The house prides itself on duty, and those who live the motto to the fullest are held in high standards. Some, though, like Bainin Tormund take this too far and delve deep into some of the more shady dealings of the Drasser noble houses. This is a point of contention, and some members of the house have a negative view in the courts for not turning a blind eye when all others do.
Structure
The house is broken down into two branches, which started with the children of Yarik and Corlynn Tormund. Yarik nursed his son, Goran, to become the leader of the Tormund army, leaving Delloras to become a high up member of the court. When Drasser unified in 566, Goran was already a great military commander. When the king proclaimed General rank as a requirement to rule years later, Goran had raised three sons and a daughter, and all replaced the current rulers inside the Tormund lands.
While both branches are of equal status, Delloras’ line is usually held in lower regard than Goran’s line. This is due to Drasser’s focus on a militaristic life, and all of Goran’s children became great generals. Most of Delloras’ line spends their time in the court in Vandiheim, while the others take up residence in their controlled settlements.
Public Agenda
As one of the ruling families of Drasser, House Tormund is tasked with the complete rule of four settlements. Other than this the house works to increase their power both politically and economically. They have no public political policies as outside relations are controlled by House Kathros.
Assets
Other than their controlled settlements House Tormund’s power comes from its economic capital. Because only half of the family deals with political operations, the other half works out trade deals and other endeavors to continue growing the family coffers. They are the most wealthy royal house, surpassing all others by a fair margin.
