Blackbranch Village

Deep within the gnarled woods of the Blackbranch Forest lies a massive clearing, hidden from the mortal eye by powerful protective magics. Within lies a verdantly green piece of forest, strewn with a cacophony of color from the flowers blooming in almost every open space. It is here that the Blackbranch Coven has built their home.

Geography

The village lies on ground that is mostly flat, with a few slow rising hills giving the meadows a billowing look. A small river runs through it and pools into a lake on the south side of the protected area.

Natural Resources

Because the witches use several different plants and herbs in their spells there is an abundance of rare flora being cultivated within the village. Every house has a little garden in which the owners grow whatever they need for their personal needs, giving each home a distinct look and smell. There are also communal gardens set up for more common ingredients, as well as a few fields for growing crops needed to keep the village fed.   This unnatural growth draws a plethora of odd creatures, especially bug and insects, into the village. Some flowers are planted just to attract a select species. This unnatural eco-system could never have been sustainable and most members of the coven have to use their magic to make it all possible.   The coven never uses the trees within the village for anything related to construction. Instead, they try to build their houses in and around them. As the witches have worked the lands for centuries the village is a treasure trove of magical ingredients. The magical energies have seeped into the very earth and grow into every tree and flower upon it. It is unknown what would happen to the area should the coven ever leave, but it would have massive consequences for the entire Blackbranch forest.
