Session 1: 25/02/2023

General Summary

Asterlynn 7th to (early morning) 11th of Quildarynn in the year 333 AI

Our Fearsome threesome meet up at ‘the 7 dwarves’ tavern, after being approached for a transportation job by Gundren Rockseeker.
At the tavern, they sit awkwardly sizing up each other nursing some ale acquired from the Grumpy barkeep, called Grumpy. Meanwhile a sleepy dwarf called Sleepy is cleaning up the place since it’s early morning. Obviously these dwarves know how to party as he unceremoniously rolls out some passed out dwarves that overstayed their welcome.
Pretty soon Gundren enters the tavern, followed by his escort, Sildar Hallwinter. Having a rough morning he starts by ordering and downing a gallon, only being stopped by Sildar who’s getting worried about their safety during future travels. The scene is set ;)
Reiterating the job and giving more details (those the secretive bastard is willing to give) discussions about payment follows. Stone Head and Liberty use all their charms, leverage and arguments they can muster to get fair pay from this stingy dwarf. They succeed! However, part of the agreement was another gallon, down it goes before Sildar can stop him. The two take their leave as you see Sildar looking worried at Gundren who’s penguin-walking to his horse and climbing on it after three tries.   On the road:

Our threesome prepares for the trip and take their leave the following day. After two and a half day without issues they come upon two dead horses. Immediately alarmed a badly hidden Goblin is found. After taking a closer look Liberty spots two more and takes action immediately by putting them to sleep. Suddenly, an arrow lands in front of you and you hear a yelp from some bushes. A well-aimed crossbow dart and fire-bolt quickly end the last threat. Swift of mind, Resnalore puts out the fire while the goblins are disarmed and tied up.
Investigation shows the horses belonging to Gundren and Sildar, and dragging marks to a hidden trail. Quick discussion has our adventurers taking the Goblins and wagon to Phandalin.   Phandalin:   Elmar Barthen is happy to see them (and pay them as he was warned of their coming by a message delivered by bird). Goods delivered, Goblins in jail, they are questioned. You find out about the Cragmaw Hideout and Castle.
The ambush was led by Bugbear named Klarg, who answers to King Grol in the Castle. Message from a person named ‘the Black Spider’ has set them on Gundren’s scent. He was taken to the castle with all his possessions, including a mysterious ‘paper thing’.
Sildar’s faith is less known and in more imminent danger, as he was taken to the ‘eating cave’ in the hideout. After some pleading and promise of pay the threesome decides to return to the trail. Leaving behind Elmar Barthen and the fat pompous Townmaster, Harbin Wester.   Cragmaw Hideout:

Late at night, after finding, disarming and evading two traps they arrive at the Cramaw hideout, finding some lazy half asleep Goblin guards, of which they make quick work. In the hideout they start exploring, evading a cavern with three wolves, that luckily are a bit complacent.
As they continue they find a way up, unfortunately the rubble is loose and sets Liberty falling. With a bit of her pride damaged, the second ascend is successful. Unfortunately, Resnalore trips and falls backwards into the stream. Alarming the guard at the bridge, he’s a bad shot however and he’s taken care of by some teamwork.
Our party reassembles and starts further exploring, leaving two goblins asleep and one cooking… For Now…
