Kingdom of Laelon
Structure
The kingdom of Laelon follows a strict martial hierarchy. Those who can physically work and fight are valued high above those who cannot. In Laelon, while women are valued for other reasons, men have much more rights. Due to the illegality of Magical arts in Laelon, any and all who cast magic are either exiled or executed. Due to either an age-old human tradition, or the abolishment of magic, men and women are not treated as equals.
Public Agenda
Centralizing the kingdom of Laelon. Getting rid of any and all mages within the country in a great Witch Hunt.
History
The Kingdom of Laelon was once a large open field of land ruled by hundreds of small human tribes that vied for power in the area. Due either to the Nisiaran Wars between the elves that would often cause collateral damage on the Laelonic or the ancient stories of Anilvim that haunt the Laelonic to this day, they have always had a great fear and resentment towards the arcane arts.
A little over one-hundred and fifty years ago, a child named Talbot was born to a small tribe of Laelonic clansman that should have amounted to nothing. This boy would grow to conquer each and every other Laelonic tribe, and found the Kingdom of Laelon. Talbot was raised to be humble, but would always prove to be an unruly child. It was hard to control him, he even grew taller than the other boys at his age. He grew to be a giant of a man, so large that a horse could not hold him. Some say he continued to grow throughout his life, and it was ultimately what killed him in his late forties. Talbot's reputation for being an ambitious rowdy brute made many other tribesman flock to him, it was only a matter of time until he had an army of curious followers.
Instead of slowly growing his lands, he declared war on one of the greater tribes in the area who only mocked and laughed at this brute. In the battlefield, Talbot would prove to be more than just a big brute of a man. He organized his men and lead the large clan into an ambush between two cliffs that would crush their cavalry, as his men cleaned the rearguard he himself finished off the leader's retainers and killed the rival chieftain. This would be only the first victory in his conquest for all of Laelon.
After a measly two decades all the Laelonic lands were under his control. By now it is said that Talbot stood nearly as tall as an Orc, but his ambition wasn't ever sated. He'd conquer land from both the Nisiarans and the kingdom of Dreazar, but in doing this he truly recognized how powerless a great oaf was to the Arcane. Thus began the never ending witch hunts. Whether out of spite, fear, or jealousy, Talbot began the tradition of yearly witch hunts in Laelon. His reign would last only a measly decade, as his health began to wane in his late thirties. On his last day, he abdicated the throne to his young son, Talbot II. Alaf, his older brother, was none too pleased and would begin the first Laelonic civil war n a move for dominance and power.
Such has become tradition, even a sport in the country of Laelon. Every time the Monarch dies, his children war for the throne. It is the Laelon way now to not Abdicate the throne for this very reason. Sometimes the siblings simply duel to the death. Both Dreazar and Nisiar believe the Laelonic people to be barbarians for this very reason. To this day, Talbot is worshipped as a legendary figure in Laelon, and his bloodline still sits atop the throne.
