Astora

Astora is made up of 3 known continents. The largest of these is simply known as the North continent. The south-eastern section of this continent hosts the United Cities, four city-states who trade and deal extensively with each other, and share a military force. Most humans, halflings, and dwarves fall under the United Cities banner, though there are also many elves and gnomes, and a growing minority of orcs.    The four cities are Aliastra (primarily human), Bermuda (primarily human and elf), Citadella (primarily dwarf), and Shah-halla (primarily human and orc). Stretching from the ocean on the east to Shah-halla in the west is a wall, with 14 fortresses built along its length (the Second and Fourteenth are built in Citadella and Shah-halla, respectively), each with a garrison of soldiers. The main road follows the wall, and the majority of the population lives in towns and villages built around the fortresses.   The northernmost area of the continent is home to the Alliance, a loose conglomerate of the various animal-like races, pushed into exile. were-people as well as kitsune, ratfolk etc.   Connecting to the North via a land bridge is the South continent, primarily populated by orcs. The orcs have only one city, Al'zar, on the border of the northern forests and the southern deserts, while the majority of the population lives in nomadic warbands. Long enemies of the various peoples of the north, a tentative peace was struck 60-70 years ago (events of campaign 1)   A little ways to the south west of the South continent is Meristone Island, isolated home of the gnomes and their singular city, Highhallow.   Many miles to the east of Bermuda is the Gleaming Archipelago, home of the elves. Further east still is the Eastern continent, ancestral home of the halflings, though most halflings have emigrated to be under the protection of the United Cities due to the rise of two eternally warring empires, the Druadoon and the Korkan.    Throughout the oceans in between are plenty of undersea communities, tribes, etc. But noone is quite sure what is truly happening down there.
