Dragonborn
Dragonborn are a relatively recent addition to Astora, having first appeared less than a millennia ago. Where they came from before is a mystery even to themselves, though at this point they have dispersed and integrated into society throughout the continent. A proud and honorable people, Dragonborn are also known to be thrill-seekers. While Dragonborn do not age like other races, they grow increasingly restless with passive life as they grow older. Eventually their need for excitement transcends into full recklessness, leading to inevitable but spectacular deaths. Despite their apparent immortality, it is a rarity to see a Dragonborn over the age of 400, and none are known to be alive today past the age of 500.
Description
Standing an average of 6 1/2 feet tall and looking much like an anthropomorphized dragon, Dragonborn are imposing figures that stand out and draw attention in most crowds. Their skin is tough, scaly and reptilian, though its color varies from person to person, covering the same range as their dragon kin. Their long jaw and even longer forked tongue make Dragonborn speech slow, methodical, and sharp. Many Dragonborn possess tails, though more often than not they are vestigial, and it is not uncommon to find winged Dragonborn, many of whom can grow to develop full flight with them.Racial Traits

This sub-type allows for draconic and dragonblood feats for all Dragonborn characters. Most dragonborn begin to show their recklessness by 100, with most living to around 200 as they seek out ever greater risk and adventure until their lives eventually end, typically in spectacular fashion. Immunity to Frightful Presence (Ex): Dragonborn are immune to the frightful presence abilities of dragons, being draconic in nature themselves. Breath Weapon (Su): Dragonborn have the use of a breath weapon. The type of breath (acid, cold, electricity, or fire) is varied amongst Dragonborn, but cannot be changed. The breath can be used as a standard action, and projects in either a line or 90 degree cone, as chosen by the Dragonborn with each use. The line's length is 5 feet per level (Hit Die) of the Dragonborn, and the cone's length is half that of the line, rounded down to the nearest 5 feet. The breath deals 1d8 damage, plus 1d8 for every 3 levels (Hit Die) the Dragonborn possesses (2d8 at 3, 3d8 at 6, 4d8 at 9, etc). A successful Reflex Save (DC 10 + 1/2 the Dragonborn's Level + the Dragonborn's Constitution modifier) halves the damage. Once used, the Dragonborn must wait 1d4 rounds before they can use their breath again.Languages
Automatic languages: Common, Draconic. Bonus Languages: Elven, Dwarven, Halfling, and Gnome.Alternative Racial Traits
The following alternate racial traits may be selected in place of one or more of the standard racial traits above. Wings (Ex): Although not uncommon for dragonborn have vestigial wings, a lucky few sport a fully functional set of wings. They can use these wings to aid their (+10 racial bonus on Acrobatics checks when jumping), gain Fly as a class skill, and gain the Glide ability as described below. at 6 levels/Hit Die, the Dragonborn gains the Flight ability as described below.- Glide: When using their wings to glide, Dragonborn negate all fall damage and can travel forward 20 feet for each 5 feet they descend. Dragonborn glide at a speed of 30 ft with average maneuverability. A Dragonborn cannot hover while gliding, regardless of any maneuverability increases. A Dragonborn cannot glide while carrying a medium or heavy load. If a Dragonborn becomes unconscious or helpless while in midair, their wings naturally unfurl and powerful ligaments stiffen them. They descend slowly in a tight corkscrew and take only 1d6 points of falling damage no matter the fall distance.
- Flight. At 6 levels/Hit Die, the Dragonborn gains a fly speed of 30 with average maneuverability. A Dragonborn cannot fly while carrying a medium or heavy load or while fatigued or exhausted. They can safely fly for a number of consecutive rounds equal to their constitution modifier (minimum 1 rd). They can double the duration of consecutive flight but become fatigued by such exertion. A Dragonborn is likewise fatigued after spending a total of more than 10 minutes per day flying. Because a Dragonborn can glide before, after, and between rounds of actual flight, they can remain aloft for extended periods, as gliding time does not count against their consecutive or total flight time. Upon reaching 12 levels/Hit Die, a Dragonborn gains enough stamina and prowess to fly without tiring. At this point, they can fly (speed 30, avg mobility) with no more exertion than normal movement. A Dragonborn with flight can make a dive attack while flying. A dive attack functions like a charge, but requires a minimum of 30 feet of horizontal movement and a minimum descent of 10 feet. a dive attack may only be made with a piercing weapon, and deals double damage on a hit. A Dragonborn with flight can use the run action while flying, provided they fly in a straight line.
