Class Features

All of the following are features of the Martial Artist class.

Improved Unarmed Strike

At 1st level, a martial artist gains Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat.

Martial Arts Forms (Ex)

The core of a martial artist's fighting prowess comes from martial arts forms. While other classes must use skill points to train in martial arts forms, martial artists gain Martial Training Points to use instead.   Martial artists gain 2 + their Intelligence modifier Martial Training Points per level, and each form's maximum rank is equal to the martial artist's level. Martial Training Points follow the same rules as skill points, with temporary intelligence boosting sources having no effect on the number of points gained each level, and later permenent increases to a character's intelligence modifier retroactively grants Martial Training Points from previous levels.   Martial Artists may not use skill points to rank up forms.   Martial artists automatically have access to all forms. Each form gives access to special moves and bonuses, and are covered in more detail in the Martial Arts article.   Exclusive forms are only available to martial artists, and they can only train in one such form. A martial artist can train in multiple advanced or basic forms, though the limit of the total number of forms they can know is equal to their intelligence modifier.

Trained Maneuvers (Ex)

Years of training in advanced combat exercises allow martial artists to better defend against and perform combat maneuvers. Starting at 2nd level, Martial artists add their intelligence modifier to both their Combat Maneuver Bonus and Combat Maneuver Defense. The mechanics of combat maneuvers are covered in the Combat Maneuvers article.

Chi (Su)

As a consequence of intense physical training and inner discipline, martial artists are more in tune with their Chi. Starting at 3rd level, martial artists have Chi points equal to 1 plus their Wisdom Modifier. Spent or lost Chi points are recovered after a long rest.
