North Umbra
The self-proclaimed remnants of the fallen nation of Umbra, North Umbra is a nation of traditionalists. They are a monarchy in name, led by descendants of the ancient Umbran clan, but old traditions die slow, and most of its peoples still identify themselves by clan and tribe.
North Umbra is largely agrarian and self-sufficient, with much of their arable land devoted to farming and livestock, but they also possess a sizable logging and mining industry.
While not a heavily militarized nation, they maintain strong military traditions and have a formidable standing army for the region. North Umbra has a strong trade relationship with and serves as an informal protectorate of their northern neighbor Findalanor, who in exchange provides open access to their maritime trade.
Fairly large populations of dwarves and elves reside within North Umbra’s borders, primarily occupying the south-eastern portion of the nation. Elven townships are distributed throughout the woods of North Umbra, and facilitate much of the logging of the nation along the borders of their territory. Dwarven holds are distributed all along the northern slopes of the Northspire mountains, and have exclusive control of the mining operations within the nation.
