The Platinum Dragon
Bahamut is the lawful good god of justice, protection, nobility, and honor in the Astorian Pantheon. Lawful good paladins often revere him, and metallic dragons worship him as the first of their kind. Monarchs are crowned in his name.
Bahamut is the patron of the dragonborn and the good-aligned metallic dragons. Wise, intelligent and good, Bahamut's followers are not only metallic dragons and dragonborn, but also humans. He is stern and disapproves of evil, but kind and helpful to the downtrodden. His clerics and followers are taught to oppose evil and help those in need. The Platinum Dragon's followers rely on the ideals of justice and honor as shields against the darkness that can claim souls. Their hope is that righteous action can prevent a drastic fall. Bahamut places faith not in the external world, but in the spirit of the individual. Bahamut sees justice as the tool of good intentions. Laws and honor exist to protect those who cannot protect themselves and to prevent those who wield power from taking the path of evil. Bahamut rules from The Platinum Throne, a massive palace with walls of pure platinum on Mertion, the fifth layer of Mount Celestia.
In his natural form, Bahamut is a massive dragon approximately 180 feet long, with a tail the same length as his body, with platinum scales tougher than any shield (said by some to be virtually indestructible) that glow with a faint blue sheen. His eyes glow a fiery blue, the exact hue of which is hard to specify as it changes depending on Bahamut's mood. When he appears before his followers or other mortals, he usually takes the appearance of an old human or demihuman dressed in peasant robes accompanied by seven canaries (his seven golden dragon companions, in disguise). Some sages believe Bahamut uses this humanoid guise to not frighten non-dragon beings. They also believe that while Bahamut is fond of his old man guise, he has other guises as well.
