Chamada
Chamada is the second layer of the Outer Plane of Gehenna.
Geography
Of all four layers of Gehenna, Chamada is the most violent and inhospitable. Sustained volcanic activity keeps the slopes constantly flowing with thick lava, to the point that solid ground is only rarely found. The entire layer glows bright red from the incandescent rock, brightly enough for the entire mount to be visible from the first layer of Khalas, despite the enormous distance between the two. From the point of view of an observer in the first layer, Chamada appears to be a bright-red burning moon.
Vast rivers of magma flows and twists endlessly down the slopes of Chamada, cooling in some locations only to explode in others, creating plumes of lava, secondary volcanoes, and veering in different directions. The extreme heat is hazardous for any unprotected living creature.
Due to this eternally ongoing eruption, the air of Chamada is permanently filled with ash, which can entirely block visibility in some locations. The entire layer smells so strongly of charred flesh and sulfur that it causes an effect similar to that of a permanent stinking cloud spell. Since the ground is the only source of illumination in the layer, all shadows project upward.
Notable locations
The layer is orbited by the flying city of Nimicri, which resembles a small moon but is actually a single living organism.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
