Colothys
Colothys is the fourth layer of the Outer Plane of Carceri.
Geography
The worlds of the fourth layer are spiked with colossal mountains rising above deep chasms. Hundreds of miles from base to peak, the terrain of this layer makes the orbs more asymmetrical than in other layers. These asymmetrical shapes make it difficult for those who fly from one orb to the next to determine where to land. Added to the dangers of irregular shapes is sheer distance, as adjacent orbs were almost 500,000 apart, so they appear to be small spiky red moons in the utterly black sky.
Mountains on Colothys soar hundreds of miles high and have slopes that make climbing outright impossible. The mountains sport trees, but these don't0 serve as good handholds for climbers. There are, nonetheless, some ways to make traveling through Colothys easier. Natural plateaus serve as rest places and artificial rope bridges between canyon walls (hard to use due to the wind on the layer) and the rare ledges, about 1-foot-wide carved into the sides of mountains, aid travel and serve as trade routes, but are fought over by the inhabitants. These trade routes are created by various people, but they sometimes lead straight to danger.
