Lolth
Queen of Spiders
Lolth is the chaotic evil god of shadow, lies, and spiders in the Astorian Pantheon. Scheming and treachery are her commands, and her priests are a constant force of disruption in the otherwise stable society of the evil Drow. Though she is properly a god and not a demon, she is called Demon Queen of Spiders. Her sacred animals are arachnids, and she considers them valuable enough to kill any who mistreat them.
Lolth drives the Drow into constant heavy infighting under the pretense of culling the weak. In reality, her goal is to maintain absolute control over the dark elves, prevent the rise of alternative faiths or ideas, and avoid complacency. This method of control, however has proven to be the downfall of her plans on several occasions (though she would never admit it), as the infighting prevented the Drow from unifying against common enemies or for a common cause.
Lolth's follower base is varied. It mainly consists of Drow, but also includes aranea, chitine, draegloths and deep dragons. Her clerics are almost exclusively female (although there were a few exceptions to that rule). They represent the rulers of most Lolthite communities, and strictly follow the Spider Queen's will, forcing the drow into extreme subservience to their deity, and into the constant state of conflict that dominates their lives. Each priestess strives for the favor of Lolth, and will do anything in order to gain status in the goddess's eyes.
Lolth's true form is that of a hybrid monstrosity, with the upper torso of a Drow elf and the lower body of a monstrous eight-legged spider. To her most trusted priestesses and handmaidens she also bequeaths the "gift" of this form, using them as an arm of her will to bring Drow civilizations that stray too far from her ways and beliefs back into line in quick order. These creatures are also known as the "Daughters of Yochlol," and were feared by all Drow for their power and ferocity.

Tenets of Faith
Lolth demands that her followers:
- Do whatever it takes to gain and hold power.
- Rely on stealth and slander in preference to outright confrontation.
- Seek the death of Elves at every opportunity.
